PSMH x Nieman Marcus Box Review – December 2018

Box: Popsugar Must Have x Nieman Marcus Limited Edition Box

Cost: $275 as a one time purchase [plus $28.60 tax to WA, totaling $303.60]

What to Expect: “Co-curated by POPSUGAR founder and President Lisa Sugar and Neiman Marcus Fashion Director Ken Downing, this box contains an opulent mix of surprises you can keep for yourself or gift to loved ones” worth $800.

My sister and I decided to purchase this box together, partially with the hopes we’d each find something we wanted, and partially to sell the rest.

Although, she still owes me that $150…

This was one of the items that I bought during my spending spree in October/November… and it set off a credit card alert from my bank, haha!

Rebecca Minkoff Leo Saffiano Clutch Bag in Black: $95

This purse is lovely, but way too glamorous for me. I thought my sister would like it, and so did she. But, alas. It’s lack of strap makes it basically useless ;p

I would leave this ALL of the places!

Dannijo Lotus Necklace: $120, made with Swarovski® crystals

This is very gorgeous. Alas, I have nothing to wear something like this to. I work in a school that does not require formal attire, then I come home, read, and fall asleep… I do not live a glamorous life at all =(  I also usually wear v-neck or strange neck shirts that either don’t show my cleavage or go all the way up to my neck, so this would likely look peculiar with my clothing choices!!

However, if you click the link above I’d prefer almost any other necklace from Dannijo, and often find that is the case from PS jewelry!!

Atelier Cologne Clémentine California Cologne Absolue: $75 1 fl. oz. Sweet, citrusy fruit, juniper, the tang of mandarin, star anise, pepper blends, Haitian vetiver, sandalwood, and cypress.

This smells amazing! So, two Christmases ago, our awesome reader, Dayle, sent me the Atelier Cologne advent calendar that she won from the MSA advent giveaway!! I still have several sample vials, and when my sister mentioned she really liked this, I realized I had a deluxe sample so I gave her that instead so we could try to sell or swap this.

Bang & Olufsen Beoplay P2: $169

I mean, I originally wanted to sell this… but if it doesn’t sell within a month or so I miiiight keep it… It’s way cooler than I had thought!

However, I got an Alexa for Christmas… and she will tell me jokes, play music, and more! So, probably will sell it…

Tata Harper Illuminating Moisturizer: $85 1 fl. oz. “A luxurious moisturizer with a soft-focus luminescence using real diamond dust for a highlighting effect. Best for dull, dry, or mature skin.

I’ve never understood the purpose of having diamond dust in beauty products. What does it do???

“I have radiant skin because my pores are filled with DIAMONDS!” Seems like some sort of evil villain thing. So, please explain yourselves, you diamond cream wearers!

Londontown Lakur in Kissed by Rose Gold: $16

This is gorgeous! I have another Lakur polish. Sadly, my nailpolish collection is VERY neglected because I tend to eff up my nails no matter how long I let it dry =\ Also, I have a similar color.

Maybe I’ll use some of my neglected colors today to paint my nails. But probably not…

Beauty by POPSUGAR Twilight Eye Palette: $42

Gorgeous colors that look nice on my skintone! Buuut, I am a VERY slow palette user. I’ve got a stack of three palettes around the same size, plus the December Deck of Scarlet which I LOVE and keep meaning to post here.

Along with the folders of hundreds of other pictures of items I’ve purchased over the years… Sigh, time for a computer cleanup!

T3 Micro Convertible Collection with Convertible Base & Cascading Waves Barrel: $185 for set

Yeah, baaiiiii! My sister and I are half black and wear our hair naturally curly, rarely using heat [it’s made our young nieces love their golden ringlets more, and I’m so happy we can inspire young blackish women!]. So, this is up for sale. Also, what the heck, some lady offered me a fair price for this online, and I said yes then she never replied. Girl, gimme dat $$!

This could be an expensive weapon that I could keep by my head and bash in intruders’ heads. Also, totally looks like a vibrator, amirite?

Nieman Marcus Giftcard: $25

I think my sister is actually keeping this. She likes fancy clothes from Nordstrom, and I prefer The Rack and The Loft.

They’re having a sale now for $250 off $1000. WAY too expensive for my taste! What’s $25 going to do? Pay some tax?

Nope, just calculated 1000-250, then did Seattle 10% tax on $750… $75 just in taxes? Gurl, bai!

So, of course then I went to go see what sort of fancy things that were in the jewelry department. What is this, Crazy Rich Asians??

Btw, the book is way better, but the movie itself is gorgeous and well done.

Verdict: The speakers and perfume [totaling $240ish] were the only items my sister and I wanted to keep out of this box, but decided not to. I wasn’t really interested in anything else! Technically, this box was a bust because my sister and I are keeping nothing and we were hoping to keep most and sell the curling iron. There just wasn’t anything shouting my name, and I’ll never need an 80 piece curling iron!

Hopefully, we’ll make some money or do some good swapping with these items though. However, apparently you can’t sell perfume, nail polish, or curling irons on Poshmark so I will try to swap those. Le sigh.

Did you grab a PSMH x NM box? What did you think? If not, take a look at the NM site and tell us which item over $1000 you’d love to have ;D

I love everything except for the PopSugar branded palette that pisses me off since this is a luxury box.

      Oh, but it’s $42. Isn’t that luxury?? ;p

The palette should have been added as an “extra” lol!
I never got a NM box before but would have loved to have gotten the one with the throw and plates. I think this year was defunately better than last year or the one which had an ugly clutch and wishbone bookends.

My friends and I did black tie mini golf once. It was so much fun! And gave us an excuse to wear our fancy stuff. We did get some weird looks though….

That sounds fun! My friend and I went to the day and night Space Needle views and wore false mustaches. It was a lot of fun, and we got many strange looks! I like the idea of fancy mini golf though.

Awww so glad you are still enjoying the Atelier advent calendar! I kind of wanted that purse for the one time a year I wold use it, but won’t pay dollars for it. (Let it be known here that what I get in boxes,I do not consider to have purchased…I purchased a box, and this clutch happened to have come in said box!). I was pretty good this year, having budgeted $200 for the Charlotte Tilbury advent, but then decided to instead spend that on makeup of my choosing. I did just drop $275 on the Indie Best Of box. I had also budgeted $150 for that and then they drop at $300? Everything is full size this year so I took the plunge.

I love that Dannijo necklace, and wanted the T3 for my daughter but PNut convinced me I didn’t. Did you get a glove with it?

I hope you are doing well!
