Loot Crate Review February 2015

My Reviewing Policy

Loot Crate (https://www.lootcrate.com/) is a Monthly Geek and Gamer subscription Box that has become one of my go to gifts for guys especially when I engage in the annual Reddit Secret Santa. They promise a $40+ value and usually offer either a T shirt or figure in every box.

Prices range from the monthly plan total of $19.95 per month to an annual plan $17.95 a month for 12 months. At the moment the annual plan gets you a shirt.  Note: They often have promo codes floating around so be sure to search for one to save a little extra green.

 

This month the theme is “Play” and with just that bit of info I excitedly opened my box!

Inside of the box! Stuff! Also we can see that the box itself can be turned into a board game that pits you against other players in a race to pack a Loot Crate. When ever I look at board games I get a slight chill that runs down my spine. My family has got to be the most ruthless board game players in the world. They are like a pack of rabid hyenas with cold hard stares and dice in their paws.

 

 

 

 

 

Munny World Mini Munny: Pretty neato that people can decorate this little guy themselves. I have no artistic ability preferring to just give my opinions because it’s like, a ton easier. I can see myself getting really pissed upon being unable to create my vision.

My value: $7 (Might make a little Mini Munny Me complete with pasted on real hair for a loved one to keep on the desk of their office so that they “feel like I’m always there for them… watching.”)

 

 

 

 

Superfight Deck Loot Crate Edition: I should have also admitted my family is coo coo for card games. I remember once while beating my sister at Uno I kept teasing her about it. She ended up hitting me which was a huge mistake on her part. Being the bigger sized sister I rose up to my full height and… ran to my mom and told on her. She got in trouuuuuuubleeeee!

Superfight is sorta like Apples to Apples, except there is a fight involved. Which pretty much mirrors my real life world whenever I get tricked into “family fun time.” I love any chance to get geeky with friends so I’m happy about this item.

My Value:  $8 (This may be what my family needs to work out our issues without a trip to the therapist or Maury)

 

 

Loot Crate Pin: I was going to type that I don’t collect these but I remembered the drawer where I throw these and I guess I sorta do collect these. But under duress.

My Value: ??? (Maybe one day for work I’ll put them all on and refer to my flair with glazed over eyes and a thousand yard state)

 

 

 

 

 

HexBug: This little robotic bug is a cats dream come true. Though I’m afraid if I let my cat play with this then she will get a taste for the finer things and start demanding all sorts of robotics. Or worse, my HexBug could run away and teach actual bugs how to be smarter, faster, and better. A month later I would be sitting on my couch watching Family Guy reruns and find myself along with the rest of humanity attacked by super smart bugs hell bent on eating my coveted stash of string cheese.

My Value: $8 (Great gift for that super hot Entomology coed you’ve been dying to go to the “next level” with)

 

Poster: Mine was kinda wrinkled and as weird as I am I doubt I will be able to fit this into my chic decor of cat hair and poultry prints. I do think it is pretty cool, but also strangely pornografic. I mean come on Loot Crate, your showing us EVERYTHING, insides and all. I don’t know about you but I’m a woman who appreciates a little mystery in her electronics.

Ready Player One Book: Wait what? But Loot Crate I don’t know how to read!

This novel gets great reviews and I argue that it does fit the theme. There has been some chatter of disappointed folk who I guess have all the time in the world to complain about getting a book in a Loot Crate on the internet but no time to read it and get spirited away to a whole world of games. Funny how that works.

My Value: $8.64 (Read this in public to catch the attention of that nerd you’ve been wanting to talk to because that Klingon costume hasn’t been working)

 

 

Rock Paper Scissors Dice: These can be used to play the box board game or settle bar disputes. These dice say you don’t play by the rules, but you do believe paper beats rock. After all, you’re not an animal!

My Value: $1 (I’m going to keep this in my car and try to talk any officer who pulls me over to a game)

 

 

Loot Crate Membership Card: Some say that with this card a whole new world opens it’s gilded doors to you. They are liars. Word is you can use this card to get swag should you find yourself in front of a Loot Crate booth.

My Value: ??? (I’ll keep it for the day someone refuses to believe I’m a nerd)

 

Verdict: Loot Crate put together a varied box that fit the theme and provided value. Even if it gave me terrifying flashbacks from childhood!
