Oui Please On Its Way!

So I went ahead and ordered a year of these boxes because I truly think I’m fancy. I also lack willpower and need content to write about. I’m excited to say my box is on it’s way and I REALLY hope it’s good. I’ll try to post my review right when I get it!

Anyone else blow a lot of money on this?

Please don’t tell me I’m all alone… 😉

I wish I could! But I think I’m all subscriptioned out. Plus I enjoy reading your reviews more than writing my own!

I think you should choose your next subscriptions based on the material they are likely to provide you. How about a TOM box? An etsy box? Definitely a travel box!

Well based on your review of Darby I signed up for that. I am thinking globein only be use the travel ones haven’t looked that great to me. Etsy box types sound good. I thought about stitch fix. My sister is doing it this month. Maybe I’ll have her review it….

I’m just thinking about what would be funny to review, and I think place specific boxes might be. You should ask Camilla what she thinks 🙂

Kreation Krate is a bit better than Darby Smart, at least to me. But it costs a bit more each month too. Globein changed their format a few months back and I am thinking of going with that one. I have been debating Oui Please, but have an allergy that prevents me using much of Sothys and some of the other makeup they have featured. That and I need to cut out a lot of boxes before I can add that one 🙂

I’ll take a look at this! I got Darby smart because Nana did such. Great review and I couldn’t help want to try it outs when if went to the site they were running a 25% off deal that I used on a sub so that it only cost like $13 a month.

    I enjoy Darby.

I am staying away from oui, please for a variety of reasons. I did post them on MSA the reasons when the sub was announced. I should post them here if you’re interested. I wonder if they ever fixed the typos on the website. At the very least, a french sub should make sure all french words are spelled correctly on their website.

Ohhh I need to find that post and feel free to post here. I have no idea honestly why I did it. I guess I just wanted more to write about.

LOL they didn’t spell things correctly?!? Sheesh! I took Spanish so I didn’t notice!

I went back to look at the website which I haven’t in months. It has changed! The misspelling was their magazine Voila. They had it spelt Viola if I remember right. Spell-check would not have caught that; proofreading would had caught it. It was one of the big text boxes (dk the name) that changes every so many seconds. It is no longer there. They have reworded their privacy policy which was what concerned me most especially regarding to the payment of fees. It’s good to see the changes which are more friendly to subscribers.

Still it peeves me that if I subscribe I may receive earrings which I don’t want. Send the earrings to those that want them! The first box did not contain earrings in every box. I’m not spending $150.00 to receive earrings and then even more money to swap them. This is my personal opinion and there are others that overlook the earrings and swap them out.

I do hope you enjoy your package! I saw the book scan on MUT and there are items that look appealing. I hope they work out their kinks from the first box and the values are more evenly distributed among the boxes.

Yeah if you don’t wear earrings why would you want them in a box. Swapping is getting costly so I’ve revamped my swapping strategy. Lol I am very uncomfortable with the boxes being really different.

Omg what if I posted a review showing all of my items as being super high end values. People would lose it!

To be honest I’ll probably gift most items to my sister. I don’t see myself EVER rocking a $200 scarf!

On the plus side it will drive traffic to your website 🙂

But you can drive traffic with cheap subscriptions too. As for the items, remember that you can donate whatever your don’t want and get a tax deduction.

Yeah I’m donating for sure. I think I’ve got enough on the way. I need to find some deals. Too bad I’m not getting anything free to review haha doubt I ever will because of my review style.

        Llb loved your review!

But I think if you start hoping you will get free boxes, you run the risk of becoming less honest. I just wrote a review on care and Chloe. It was pretty negative. Then I looked up what others had to say, and pretty much all other reviews were positive but came from reviewers that were given that box. I don’t think they are dishonest, just predisposed to like something free.

That is pretty true. I don’t think ANYONE would give me anything free frankly. Even if by some weird chance I became somewhat popular. I only will have a tough time affording a ton of boxes to make it so I have something to review each day. That is the lame part. Now I am trying to buy longer term subs when there are discounts so that I can have more to review. Maybe I will add other stuff I can write about.

There is NO CHANCE I will be getting anything gratis anytime soon so anything I write will most def be 100% me.

I love your sense of humor so count me in a reader for however many (or few) boxes you do 🙂 Just continue the honesty and sense of humor and you will draw people.

There are deals often though for things, I stocked up during Black Friday – have enough craft boxes to keep me busy for years but I got 6 months on some of them…

Awww thanks! I am working on a new review right now that I hope to post tonight! I am excited for Black Friday to stock up on subs. It is a spendy habit but I look at it like I always find a way to blow my money. I am excited about the craft boxes. Crafts are usually so expensive so this might be just the thing to get a little creative without making a trip to the craft store and spending a load of money.

I read your Cate and Chloe review and your other reviews. I’ve wonder about the sourcing for Cate and Chloe. I also liked my Wantables accessories better.

That is why I signed up for some boxes. I just don’t work on them as fast as I thought I would, too many computer games, blogs and magazines. But going to the craft store means taking my daughter, and that is never cheap….

I’m a fan. I think that people are going to search out more honest reviews as time goes on. I don’t know how to find them, but there are Facebook groups that sub boxes go to and ask for reviewers. Are you familiar with Jennifer at Rambling of a Suburban Mom? She seems supportive of small blogs and does a link up on Thursdays.

I think you wrote that you wanted to understand sub boxes. The guy who owns Escape Monthly and Yogi Surprise runs a subscription school and forum at Crate Joy. Crate Joy is the platform that some subscription boxes use. It’s interesting reading.

Wow PA Anna thanks for all the help!!! I do read Rambling. I will also see if I can get more info through Crate Joy. I think it would be really interesting to understand the whole deal with sub boxes. The business model seems to go from either having really good connections or trying to pass crap as gold.

Here’s a link that Rambling has on her website. http://www.ramblingsofasuburbanmom.com/2013/03/so-you-want-to-start-a-blog-a-qa/ Also I notice that Brandy at Hello, Subscription which was previously Mommy Splurge comments on new blogs. She may have ideas. A blog that is a little different than the usual blogs is http://outsidethebox15.blogspot.com/ with Little Miss Boxy and Little Miss Crafty. I don’t comment on their blog because I don’t have the right accounts, but it is an interesting read. I noticed that they are supportive of small blogs too.

Another idea is to be an affiliate. This is how the bigger blogs pay for their website and boxes that says “blogname paid for this subscription”. There are sub boxes that are wiling to work with smaller blogs. Check out the boxes that you like and click on their affiliate. tab to see if you qualify. I always try to buy boxes or items in a shop through smaller boxes for that reason. Another place where you can read more information about affiliates is http://www.makeuptalk.com/f/forum/249-beauty-bloggers/ I know MUT went through a shakeup, but there’s good information in the threads.

I also noticed that there are blogs that will link to Amazon when describing a product. I think they receive money from Amazon as an Amazon affiliate if someone clicks on that link and buys from it. I noticed that with Birchbox too. A person will blog about a nonBirchbox box and have the links point towards Birchbox which leads me to believe that they must be a BirchBox affiliate and it works the same way as Amazon. I don’t know how all that works.

There’s around 500 sub boxes and there are small ones that either don’t want to be reviewed by big blogs or can’t get a big blog to review them. Brandy (Hello, Subscription) has posted in the past where she found boxes to review.

Feel free to delete links or blog names. My sister has been through a lot the past few months resulting me in spending too much time in waiting rooms. I became curious about how subscription box companies work and how sub blogs work which lead to all of this. It makes for interesting reading while I wait.

Thank you once again! I want to always be super honest but I also want to keep you coming back to this page. It really drives to me write! I want to thank you so much for all the help and also say that I hope your sister is getting better. You’re a good sister to be there for her. Waiting rooms are THE WORST! I don’t even know what I’d do without an iPad. I remember I used to read ancient magazines. Ugh.
