Petbox – April 2015

Petbox is a subscription that caters to the more furry love of your life. Not the one who wanders from room to room wondering loudly about the status of clean socks but the one who wanders room to room wondering loudly about food.

Petbox has a lot of different subscription options, however mine is from the from Groupon. They do offer deals on different sites so be on the look for them if you are not sold on the box 100%.

The packaging lets your know right away that the box isn’t for you. The smell of catnip or treats tells your animals that there is indeed a package for them!

Pet Laser Classic
Pet Laser Classic

Pet Laser Classic: I was surprised to see a dog on the package playing with this toy as I have never thought to use a laser pointer for one. I know cats do love to chase the red dot, but my cat Sophia gets SUPER weird when lasers are involved. She starts to do this weird chattering thing, and I get freaked out. So I will not be using this for her. I liked that it came with extra batteries and it should be great for those who have kitties that love to play or who are in business and make a ton of presentations.

It also makes different light shapes and I can use it to put on my very own laser shows! I can already hear the anxious excuses from people I invite to come watch it!

My Little Lion Treats - Totally Tuna
My Little Lion Treats – Totally Tuna

My Little Lion Treats – Totally Tuna: These treats tell me that they are full of real tuna and not full of grain and other fillers. I may have no problem taking down an entire large bag of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos while I drive in my car but I would sure hate to feed my little kitty anything that is artificial. I mean, do you know how long it would take a cat to get all the red coloring off of her paws?!?

My kitty is very picky because I was picky as a child and Karma comes to get us all, so she did not eat these. She did bat them around for awhile. I am sure most cats would take to these treats and I have seen this brand in the “boutique” pet shops so I know there are cats out there who enjoy them.

Being “totally tuna” I can feel good about crushing these up and using them on homemade sushi for that special kitty treat “umami” my dinner guests demand!

Supercat Catnip Crumbles: I like this idea. The papers are sort of scratch and sniff with catnip. You take a sheet and crumple it and watch your cat play and have fun. My cat digs this type of toy because she likes to bat at things, and she likes to chew paper. Indeed she chews on all sorts of stuff that she should not, so this is nice to have around. At first I thought she did not care for it and I was all sad. I don’t know why, it is not like I own stock in this company. Then she went for it and REALLY enjoyed playing with it. SO this is a big winner in the cat’s den.

Light and small enough to hide in my purse to woo any kitty I come across! Finally the coveted title “Cat Lady Prom Queen” could be mine!

Classic - Wind-Up Mechanical Mouse Toy

Classic – Wind-Up Mechanical Mouse Toy: I have yet to break this little guy out, but I couldn’t help but notice how cute he is. Poor little guy, he is going to get messed up by my cat something fierce. To make it work you wind it up super old school style and watch it go. It could either end up scaring my cat or making her day. Time will tell.

Wind it up and let it go… at a restaurant… while jumping on your chair and screaming “Oh My Stars! A RAT! AAAAAAA RAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTT!” Accept gratis meal!

Final Verdict: I am happy with my box. It was not as great as the first one, but it did have enough in it to make my cat stop questioning me on why I am spending her “college fund” on boxes…

She wouldn’t stay still this time!!! I’ll try to get her for another post because I’m super into her lol why don’t you get along? I swear I’ve read posts where others had issues as well but I can’t bring details to mind… It has been a long day! 😉

I thought it was discouraged to play with lasers with cats, as they can’t actually catch it at the end. That chattering noise is what I hear when my cat sees birds, seems like she is trying to tranquilize them into inactivity to make them easier to catch……

She does it at birds too! I guess that is what they are doing! I’m not sure about the laser play. I can see how it would be bad because they don’t catch anything, my cats bloodlust must be satiated!

It all goes back to a Living Social deal. I received a wire toy, made in China dollar catnip toy and don’t remember the rest. It wasn’t worth much. They admitted that they sent different boxes to LS people. I ended up with a refund and extra LS bucks. Another person with the same issue accepted their offer of a new box and became a customer.

What irritated me is that I expressed my displeasure with the wire toy and how it whipped back. I felt it was dangerous especially with a young child. Their response was to remind me not to have my child play unsupervised. Irritating. I already tossed the toy. Now if they had offered a new box in the beginning I would be writing to you about my box.

I also cancelled my LLB sub.

Ohhhhh DISH on your LLB feedback!!!

Yeah my box is different and they have sent doubles. I didn’t review the last box I got because I’m bad, but they sent me the same cat food twice. I would be upset to get wire toys because my cat would totally hurt herself somehow to spite me.

How lame that a petbox company reminded you how to care for your child lol like, thanks petbox but even if I was watching a child play and the wire toy whipped back I wouldn’t be able to do much about it unless you think I’m the Flash…

LLB has always treated me well. They have gone above and beyond in their service to me. I love their curation. They have given me no reason to complain.

However, this isn’t the same for everyone. Do you read MUT? Google Makeup Talk Forum. Read the thread.

Subscription boxes are supposed to be fun. This isn’t fun anymore. I can understand the sisters wanting to protect their brand. I’ve never seen a box take such a beating the way they do. People seem to take joy in tearing apart. It has to be hard to read certain comments.

I don’t agree with randomly cancelling subs. People have posted not receiving subs and being surprised that they are cancelled. I don’t agree with them running business that way, but it’s not my business.

A person posted her online conversation with a LLB Representative who cancelled her account. I have a hard time with the comment he wrote about cancelling customers. I know who he is with LLB and had pleasant interactions with him. It was disturbing to see this side.

Ultimately I don’t want to give my money to a sub box that is unkind or doesn’t care about their customers. I don’t need the sub. They don’t need me. I don’t want to be wondering if my sub is cancelled because of a comment I wrote. I don’t want to give money to a sub who can cancel someone because there are people waiting for that spot.

I do wish the sisters success in their endeavours.

Best to breakup while everyone is happy. I sound idealistic, don’t I?

Lol I agree. Though I’m not too great at break ups hahaha

Ill trash the comment lol, not out of fear about the box but out of your other point. It’s a good one.

It’s like no one should take this stuff too seriously. I’m just a cat lady with too much wine and an internet connection…

Talking about serious, I bought the MSA/kloverbox collaboration. I couldn’t help it. Boy, I’d be hard pressed to do a box with their following. MSA is like THE box site and Kloverbox is an awesome box. Some people are going to expect far too much I’m calling it now. The beach theme gets me!

I’m sure Kloverbox and MSA will have complaints. There were lots on the MSA Quarterly Box 2. I can’t imagine running a blog and reading comments complaining about the items you pick for a box.

I’ve been guilty of taking things too serious. Sub boxes need to be fun. I sent you a PM and even included a poem for you!

I would be all hurt if people didn’t like my box. You know both of them want to do a great job. Makes me think what I would put together in a box. Like 99% of people would hate it hahaha I am a legend at taking this serious I shouldn’t and I think writing helps me laugh at myself a little more so that I can get over myself a little.

Oh got you PM and will be emailing back!

Sometimes I peep MUT. That is where the best intel is! I would go more but for whatever reason it never let’s me sign up!

I do think they are heavy handed. I get they care a lot but like anything you do there will be people who don’t like it. Gotta just accept it.

When I was their age I was bumming around in the Pece Corps and traveling. I was not building a business by any means so I respect their spirit. I do hope they don’t cancel people anymore.

I’ll check it out and thanks for the info!!!

            Wow. The Peace Corps!

They do have great spirit. I hope they retain their spirit. I also hope you retain your writing voice! It’s what makes your blog enjoyable.

Lol not to take away from other people Peace Corps experiences but I definitely got a ton more out of it then I gave. I feel like retired people are likely the most useful because no one takes a kid out of grad school very seriously. Other cultures do not worship youth the way we do. I plan to volunteer again once I’m retired and have grand kittens!

Thanks Anna, I will keep trying to bring you and anyone else who decides to read back to laugh with me!!!

It all blew up on MUT today. I don’t think it will make much difference in the long run.
