Pet Gift Box Review – July 2015 (Cat)

I decided to branch out a bit and try a new subscription for my cat Sophia. She is a “what have your done for me lately?” type of kitty who forgets that I spend my time cleaning her litter and not sifting for gold which it might look like. I enjoyed reading Beeju Boxes Reviews of this so I took the plunge!

I decided to give Pet Gift Box a try because I have been reading some great reviews and they had a Groupon deal that would allow me to try a few months at a fair price. I am all about fair prices so you can be rest assured of that. Prices range from $17.99 a month to $27.99 a month.

They carry boxes for both Cats and Dogs, and they also take into account the weight of your animal/pet/best friend/blackmailer.

My mail must go through a lot to get to me!

I would join a cat gym for sure!

Cloud 9 - Eggsplosive Treats (Sophia check it out!)
Cloud 9 – Eggsplosive Treats (Sophia check it out!)

Cloud 9 – Eggsplosive Treats: I think this is an unfortunate name because I know all to well what some cat treats can do to a kitty tummy and this just reminds me of that. As is her custom my kitty smelled the treat but did not eat it. I guess the Queen wanted me to distribute them to the townspeople. They are made up of egg, lactose, and yeast.

The package makes this super easy to trick humans into eating one thinking they are getting a mint. Nope. You just got egg.

SmartyKat - Knock Out Treat Toy
SmartyKat – Knock Out Treat Toy

SmartyKat – Knock Out Treat Toy: I am into this toy because my kitty just sort of expects treats and this will teach her the value of hard work and determination. I can break out my pipe and lecture her on how one can only value the things they work for. She will not listen to a single word and just wonder where her treats are.

They should make these for kids to build problem solving skills!

PetKing - Cat Play Cave
PetKing – Cat Play Cave

PetKing – Cat Play Cave: I bought one of these for Sophia when I first got her. She did not care to go into the tunnel, even when I put treats into it. She just doesn’t trust them. I guess it is for the best since I don’t want her to try to tunnel her way to freedom leaving me to pick up the pieces.

I’m watching you Sophia…

Jakks Pets - Claw Doodles
Jakks Pets – Claw Doodles

Jakks Pets – Claw Doodles: The suction cup makes this a fun toy for the kitty that I can move around when she gets bored or I want to distract her from my computer. She loves to type on my computer but makes little sense. She said it is “short paw” but I am dubious. Anyway, she digs that it has catnip inside and came right over to it when I set it up!

Once I caught her emailing salmon and tuna companies begging for free stuff…

Great American Pet Co - Knob Goblins
Great American Pet Co – Knob Goblins

Great American Pet Co – Knob Goblins: I laughed so hard when I read what this was called. Am I the only one who has ever called someone a “Knob Goblin?” I know, I am like 13 years old in my brains but how did this get into stores? Well safe to say that Sophia wasn’t digging this toy. She says she doesn’t want the neighborhood cats to start spreading rumors about her. Also she is a chewer and I don’t want her to chew off the bright hair while I am not looking.

I will hold onto to gift when I want to give someone a subtle hint…

Verdict: Another fun Pet Gift Box that my super picky cat will enjoy. As always, we can’t use all the items but that isn’t really anyone’s fault. I like that we did not get too many treats and that they stuck with the theme of working out, which honestly both me and my Sophia should do a lot more!

I too have a picky cat that does not do treats. On the off chance she does actually eat one, it is only minutes until it makes a second, much less appealing, appearance. Yet they are so soft, fluffy, and sweet that we continue to cater to their whims. Thanks for your help in recognizing my co-dependency issues!!

Lol CiCi, I know we recognize our problems, but… I wouldn’t change it for the world. I often imagine that I i were so cute and furry that the world would be in my paws! (Seriously though my cat has no right to be so picky!)

This is a fun read. Sophia is adorable. I had the same thought when I saw the catness sticker. It looks like an enjoyable box for cats!

Sidenote: I will upload darby smart review photos soon but if you haven’t seen it, this months is like the last thing I need lol

Did I miss the Darby Smart photos? I see a bunch of interesting reviews coming up, but no DS pictures. I tried Googling for a July review and only got hits for the special July pricing. Did they send out the scarf dying kit?

I had to reread this review again. I enjoyed it. It makes me laugh 🙂

Hey girl! No, I need to upload them still. I am rushing around trying to get ready for my trip that will keep me away about a week and a half. I suck at packing!

I totally pass out! My problem is staying asleep. I have started closing the door so that the cat does not come in to wake me up. I feel really guilty about it…

I’m just thankful you are writing on here. It’s super tough when I’m away for work to even chat with family. Today I have another dinner to go to and I’m hoping it’s short.

I’ve always wondered about cat boxes. My cat was so snooty she had like three toys she’d play with and I would have to buy the same ones over and over after she destroyed them. She also hated wet food and wouldnt eat soft treats.
With the notorious cat-pickiness, I’m surprised there are so many cat subs out there 😀

Probably because cat people will still buy knowing that their kitties will likely be fickle. We are chumps!

Abby loves her cat cave, she sleeps whole days in there in winter. She loves getting her catnip in treats too. Great review and pictures.

I bought a “knock it out” toy for my boy cat, Fuzzle Duzzle. After filling it full of treats and showing him how it works, he just waited for me to knock some more out. I walked away and it took him 3 days before he figured how to do it himself. My son claims that Fuzzle is my husband reincarnated. (He always said he wanted to come back as my cat.) He wasn’t too bright either.

Is there a dog box review somewhere? I am a subscriber of PetTreater and even though it has been awesome every month, I wish to compare it with other boxes

    • March 8, 2016 at 4:03 pm

I never did a dog box review as I do not have my own puppy yet. One day, one day I will have a whole army of animals! I bet MSA has something. If you decide to get anything and want to weigh in here you totally can. I would totally check it against other boxes. I am the type who likes to have a look around too!!!
