White Peach Pottery Review – July 2015

Disclosure: There are no affiliate links in this post.

Have you ever stayed up late at night reading subscription box reviews? Have you ever purchased a new-to-you subscription box at 1 am? Have you ever had to go back to a blog to find out the name again because even though it was a cute name, you couldn’t remember it a few weeks later? I can answer “yes” to all three questions. What about you?

I came across a review on this indie pottery box. I liked what I saw, read that only 20 boxes are available each month and ordered it. We all have been there where we waited too long to order a box and missed out. The big question is, “Do I like what I receive?” YES! Without further ado, I introduce you to White Peach Pottery.

Subscription: White Peach Pottery

Cost: $35.00/month Each month is a one-time purchase. There are 20 boxes available each month starting on the 1st until sold out or ending on the 10th.

What to Expect: A variety of exclusive pottery pieces valued at $50.00. These items will not be available for purchase on the website.Β  The artist uses either a slab roller before hand altering or individually throws each piece on the potter’s wheel. Each box is designed around a theme.

As an aside, I have great respect for the arts. My desire to craft far outweighs my ability. The pieces I received are gorgeous. I’m in love with this box.

Sorry about the taglines. I wrote them at 12:45 am. I don’t know if anyone can be witty that late or early, but I am determined to write one post despite all the difficulties I experienced.

First look at the items!
First look at the items!

The July box theme is “Star and Stripes”. Color! I love color.

Too much whites and neutrals this month. Bring on the color!

Beautiful mug.
Beautiful mug.

Imprinted Stars Mug: I don’t even know where to start in explaining the technique used to create this mug. I will let the artist explain how she created this mug. It’s a beautiful mug that I have no qualms using or having visitors using.

I look at this mug and wish I was in dreamland instead of trying to write funny taglines πŸ™‚ I do hope my lame taglines make you smile.

I enjoy reading about the mug making process.

The vase is also has the artist’s last name and heart on the bottom.

Love the tag!

This tag is tied to the mug. I love the logo.

Vase
I love this little vase.

Β Striped Bud Vase in purple, red, and chartreuse: I love what she wrote about this vase. The artist originally created it for mommies whose children brings them flowers. It also holds a single bud. My little guy picked flowers for me from his flower garden.

The word “chartreuse” is wasted on me because I thought that meant red. There’s more than one color of chartreuse, but none are red. This is why I create beauty by growing flowers and produce instead of crafting.

Finally a cat picture that goes with the post.

Look how beautiful!

My little guy carefully selected two flowers for the vase.

Absolutely beautiful.

He carefully arranged them for the photo.

He even helped me “style” the picture with and without the coaster. It’s wonderful how a subscription box can create a special moment between mommy and son.

I should hire him to style all my pictures.

Pair of Handwoven Coasters

A Pair of Handwoven Coasters: The coasters were created using a Japanese technique called “Saori”. I am unfamiliar with this technique and may not have selected the best link to explain it. I will be using the coasters. I can’t decide if I should use them as drink coasters or use one coaster with the vase as depicted in an above picture.

There’s a lot I don’t know. Gum is from trees, Charteuse can be green, yellow, or halfway between green and yellow (where red is not) and there are different loom techniques.

It’s interesting how there is little to no pre-planning, yet the results are beautiful.

This is my kind of crafting.

A closer look.
A closer look.

Here’s a closer look at the weaving.

The coaster conglomerate is working overtime this month. The goat syndicate is gong to have to ramp up things to catch up in August.

Verdict: This box put a smile on my face. I love the items and the color scheme. They are well-made items that I will display and use in my house. I enjoyed reading about how the items are crafted. My favorite part about this box is going to my younger son’s flower garden and watching him select flowers for the vase. He was very serious about the process and styling his flowers perfectly for the blog.

What do you think of the White Peach Pottery July 2015 box? Should I keep the vase on the coaster? Should I be writing lame taglines at 12:45 in the morning? Share below and anything else on your mind.

First, I buy stuff buzzed in the late hours like ALL the time. I have been shocked probably each week when something has arrived at my door lol Then I start to think back and fuzzy little flashes run through my mind… oh yeah I read a review and decided that I too needed this box!

Great review!!! I like the items as well. I also like that they are not your standard stuff. Though so WEIRD about more coasters!

You need to do the tinfoil series. There’s always a trend in sub boxes. I’m glad that these coasters are different.

We should do it together in a round up type of deal. We can also post tinfoil rumors (they will be totally made up and funny) This could be something totally fun for us to do!

    Coasters *snorts*
I read all Popsugars on MSA and now I won’t buy Kai because I wrongly believe this Hawaiian perfume will make it into another sub box :/

    • July 30, 2015 at 5:29 am

I remember that! People were going crazy over the Kai and buying extra boxes because it was worth it.

OMG, that fox and squirrel stamp on the vase tag. I wonder if it’s a single stamp, or if they put two together. Either way, I want it/them!

Sometimes I worry that, if ever given enough vodka and free time, I will cover every wall in my office with woodland prints.

    • July 30, 2015 at 4:29 pm

Sarah – I sent her an email asking about it. I can send you the tag if you want it.

Wow, thank you for asking for me. It’s so nice of you to offer to send me the tag, but I am content to order a stamp of my very own if one exists. (Mind you, of the 50-some stamps I have acquired over the years, I have used three of them exactly one time each. But this time will be different. For reals.)

I should also mention, in case my boss decides to read through my browser history (I like to live dangerously–no private browsing for me), that the office mentioned in my previous post is my home office. I will totally use all kinds of company time to read subscription blogs, but I draw the line at drinking on the clock. (Too many people would expect me to share.)

        • July 30, 2015 at 10:49 pm

That whole sharing thing does get in the way.

The artist responded that the tag came from a company called FLOW based in Denmark. She laughed at the “chartreuse” comment that was the one I was nervous about posting. I’m glad that she has a sense of humor! I did think chartreuse means red and was wondering why she wrote the description that way πŸ™‚ Live and learn. Now I’ll never forget what it means.

I thought that word was just made up to trick me and put me in my place when curtain shopping…

          • July 30, 2015 at 11:20 pm

Now you can smile knowingly to one of your other personalities because you know what it means:) I read the disclaimer on the Oui, Please review.

We need to write a reviewing policy as well. I finally started researching how to do stuff and good changes coming soon!!! Tonight I try to make a blue Apron meal…. Maybe I should live blog it?

Like update it as I do stuff? Might be lame or might be fun. Not sure….

          • July 31, 2015 at 3:30 am

That would be fun. I think live blogging meals or crafts will be fun and interesting.

          • July 31, 2015 at 3:31 am

You could post an announcement to the time it might start so people can make comments πŸ™‚

If I make a mistake on something, it is forever ingrained in my mind. (Thank you tenth grade English teacher for correcting my split infinitive!). In that regard I’m truly a lifelong learner.

I have no idea why I assumed the artist made those tags herself and then assumed she made them with a stamp. Wishful thinking, I guess. I got carried away with crafty thoughts.

          • July 31, 2015 at 3:58 am

I thought she made the tags too. She hand carved the stamp to make the stars on the mug so I think it is a natural assumption that she stamped the tag. It is a beautiful tag.

COASTERS!!!! ROTFL. But these coasters are the best of the month! I really like this box. I used to do pottery with my niece we had a lot of fun. LOVE that mug too, great subscription.

I like your taglines, keep on writing, you have a good balance with subscriptionista and keep new things showing up.

Definitely need a tinfoil hat post….

    • July 30, 2015 at 11:36 pm

Shana, thank you. I like the handwoven coasters the best too.

It’s a different style of writing than the way I write comments on other blogs. People are going to wonder if it is one of Subscriptionista’s other personalities posting. Did you read the Oui, Please disclaimer? I’m going to start claiming that i am the personality that is two shades of lollipops, rainbows, and unicorns and owns a 1951 Maison Francaise large clutch. I do not own the clutch in real life. I don’t own a unicorn either. I do have a lollipop I can share.

Hahaha! Tell them you also have that leather cuff bracelet! Muwahahaha

You can away do whatever style you want. I tried a few different ones before I settled on what I did. I just need structure or nothing will ever get posted!

It would be weird if I started pretending other people were posting. I could have a full out conversation with myself!

        • July 31, 2015 at 3:38 am

Subscriptionista – You are funny! The artist from White Peach Pottery described my review as whimsical. I like that. Real life iserious right now. I like the idea of writing light-hearted whimisical blog posts.

          I love your writing style!

You are the best person to share a blog with! You are totally Whimsical… Like you are this woman who grows beets and belly dances! That is so awesome!

          • July 31, 2015 at 4:32 am

            Kelly – Thank You!

Subscriptionista – You are the one that makes it fun!

The beets are not mine:( They are from a farm on the other side of the state with a longer growing season. I do grow carrots and potatoes among other things. Everything is slowly ripening. Too much rain and not enough warmth. The tomatoes and cucumbers are mine from the Artistry Gift post.

      • July 31, 2015 at 1:48 am

I think I read the disclaimer, the first part of the review? Loved it, said their might be issues but this was my experience. Good to see the issues out and addressed. Now to give a stern warning to the Coaster Confederate that we are onto their move for power. No more room on coffee tables, time to move onto a different item. Let’s see what can be the next ‘big’ thing that we could actually USE??? Hmm

You would serious start a riot over that clutch. I don’t even know what it looks like or why it is quite as cool as people think. But then I am not very fashion conscious. Actually I am so fashion unconscious that my husband goes clothes shopping with me and picks out all my clothes. And he does a FABULOUS job with it too. I go for the it;s comfortable let’s get it method

        • July 31, 2015 at 2:14 am

I’ll write more in a little bit because I am trying not to freak out that I can’t find my keys and am also writing up a post. I don’t remember reading this early in the morning, but I was half asleep. Subscriptionista has this disclosure at the bottom of the Oui, Please review.

“Disclosure: There are no affiliate links and I paid for this subscription myself. All opinions are mine or one of my many personalities. “

        • July 31, 2015 at 3:34 am

Shana – Subscriptionista did a great job in the beginning explaining her thoughts and feelings on the issues. I’ve been trying to figure out what August’s big thing. Nothing wrong with getting a head start.

I know nothing about the clutch. I personally did not like it from what I saw in pictures, but it is hard to tell from pictures. It’s a popular item for a reason. Yay on the husband picking out the clothes! I’m glad he does a good job πŸ™‚
