My box is not reflective of all products that are offered this month.

What to Expect: Natural or organic beauty and personal care products along with occasional samplings of health and wellness products.

I never had any issues with Goodebox selections until my July box. It happened again with my August box. I’ll explain what happened and how it was resolved. I’m satisfied with the resolution and still feel they are a great eco beauty box.  The August spoiler is products from A Night For Green Beauty.

My original August 2015 box.
My original August 2015 box.

Here’s my first look.  I was slightly agitated over the tracking number situation. The box arrived on August 10th. Then I saw the eye shadow. One of the reasons I’ve been excited about my Goodebox is that there will never be any eye makeup in my box. Read on, the story has a happy ending.

Zoe Organics Refresh Oil
Zoe Organics Refresh Oil

Zoe Organics Refresh Oil: Zoe Organics is one of the brands featured in A Night for Green Beauty. I received the Zoe Organics Insect Repellent in the LE ANFGB Box 1 which works well for me. I was surprised to see Zoe Organics available for in-store and online purchase at Target. This oil is for upset tummies, motion sickness, and anxiety. The 100% organic oil is made in the USA. It has a light scent of peppermint and ginger.  I will be picking up another oil for my sister as a Christmas gift.

Goodebox has increased their price structure in order to provide more full-size products. I don’t usually mention whether something is full-size, but will for this reason. The oil is full-size.

I’m going to use this every time I write a blog post. Maybe I won’t worry so much if it will be read.

Lovefresh Lemon Verbena Natural Deoderant
Lovefresh Lemon Verbena Natural Deoderant

Lovefresh Lemon Verbena Deodorant:  Lovefresh is featured in A Night for Green Beauty. The made-in-Canada baking soda-based natural deodorant has a light lemon scent. Others may refer to it as smelling like Pledge. It doesn’t bother me because it is a common scent in natural products.  Lovefresh also carries stick deodorant if you do not want to touch your armpits. I thought the 2 oz was the full size because it is big! They also carry a 4 oz.

Will I inspire people to dust if I smell like Pledge?

Kahina Giving Beauty Facial Cleanser
KAHINA Giving Beauty Facial Cleanser

KAHINA Giving Beauty Facial Cleaner: KAHINA is featured in A Night for Green Beauty. The cleanser sounded promising when I read the description of how it eliminates toxins and purifies along with brightening skin. It has a slight citrus scent that is from the natural oils of the orange flower. The website has a cleansing ritual detailing the steps for a properly clean and healthy skin. The made-in-the-USA cleanser’s first ingredient is aloe. I’m going to give it a try because it also has willowbark and argan that calms my skin. It also has radish which I think is a first for me. My sister will eagerly take it off my hands if it doesn’t work.

Do radishes have a scent? Will bunnies hop over to me?

Josh Rosebrook Skin and Hair Care Lift
Josh Rosebrook Skin and Hair Care Lift Texture & Volume

Josh Rosebrook Skin and Hari Care LIFT Texture & Volume: Another Night for Green Beauty participant! The hair care product boasts strong hair growth and creates a healthy scalp. I will be sending this product to an August Birthday Blogger:) The founder believes that healthy hair starts within the body. It has a light scent. One of the ingredients is burdock that grows as a weed on the farm. It is also a valuable herb. I do not need this and was disappointed to see that this was in the box because I marked down curly hair. This girl does not need volume!

I want to hear about your strong, healthy hair, August Birthday Girl!

Au Naturale
Au Naturale

Au Natural Powder Eye Shadow in Gold Dust: Au Naturale is also A Night for Green Beauty participant. The gold dust eye shadow is part of the Golden Goddess Collection. This full-size made-in-the-USA product has no fillers and is gluten-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, carmine-free, Bismuth Oxychloride-Free, and non-nano. It looks like a pink shimmer, but I am not an eye shadow expert. I’m sending packages off on Monday and will see if anyone wants it.

I should dump my unwanted eye shadow out in a big pile and have my cats walk through it and onto a canvas. I will call it PAWS abstract art and donate all proceeds to an animal charity. Zelda’s canvas will be a meticulous work of art. Link’s canvas will be empty because he will track the eye shadow all over the house and onto my clothes. On second thought, I shouldn’t do it. You are welcome to steal my idea.

Goodebox Response: I emailed Goodebox to find out why I received the dreaded eye shadow. I decided to email about the hair product too as an FYI. I emailed Goodebox and received a response on August 11th. My replacements shipped on August 11th and arrived on August 13th. I am impressed 🙂 Way to Go Goodebox!

Goodebox explained to me that the computer selected the eyeshadow because I indicated that I am more of a natural, but will wear colors that flatter even though I had marked no eye shadow. It’s one of those glitches. The hair product was selected because I marked high for hair care and use styling aids. I also marked that I have thick, curly hair. I would not have emailed them about the hair product if everything else in the box matched my profile because it is one of those things that I feel can be difficult to fine tuned. . I wasn’t expecting a replacement for the hair product. I am happy they did replace it because I think I will love the replacement.

Box 2
Box 2 – Can you tell why I am excited?

Mahalo Balm: I had a slight case of the wants over the Mahalo Balm, which has been featured in the past. It has no aloe and is great for rosacea. It has wonderful ingredients such as carrot oil, turmeric, sea buckthorn, and neem oil. All works great on my skin!!! The scent is a medium earthy scent according to the website. It smells like lavender-infused honey to me. Mahalo is made-by-hand in Hawaii. I will be trying this week.

Using this product will be the closest I will ever get to Hawaii.

YAROK Feed Your Curls Defining Creme: I’ve written so much about Yarok that I am running out of things to say. My hair loves Yarok. The creme is used in wet hair. I will be testing this tomorrow on a warm, humid day. It should smell nice with blood orange, bitter orange, and ylang-ylang. I’m touched that Goodebox sent this because of the conversation we had about my hair. I did not expect them to replace the hair product and am pleasantly surprised.

Will tomorrow be a good hair day?

Much Better!
Much Better!

I love my Goodeboxes. They introduce me to products that I can use despite all my allergies and problems. I am always excited to see what comes in my box each month. Goodebox stayed true to its spoiler of the products being from A Night for Green Beauty. There were 2 full-size products which show that they are staying true to the reason for the price increase. The deodorant is huge too! I love the replacement items that were sent which arrived quickly. I’m a satisfied customer. Remember, that Goodebox offers more products than what is in my box.

What do you think of my Goodebox? Do you receive Goodebox? What was in your box? Share below and anything else on your mind.

    *read and enjoyed your post!*
Oohs Mahalo please be featured in another box (or the next mystery Goodebox)! Lavender honey definitely smells better than earthy 🙂
I think I like pledge-like scents as well there are products that I like but when I read the reviews some of the complaints more than one time was that the product smelled like pledge. Oddly, it has been ages since I have smelled pledge maybe that is why I do not mind it?
In regards to using mineral eyeshadow, I gift the non-sparkly ones but I used the sparkly ones as “pixie dust” on top of a glitter manicure for my eldest wee one. I forgot to mention that my HG ZOYA remover is EXCELLENT for removing glitter. I don’t do solid np I do not want to redo chips glitter is so much more forgiving!
I know that one of your wee ones does not like manis mine hates pedis we usually attack one or two toeberries in the early morning before she catches on and hides them. Also if yours has delay tactics to escape bedtime, delay by mani/pedi usually has a higher success rate 😉 I figure you have ten times more experience than I do and I am sorry if I am late to the game everyone knows these tricks so please share as I still make rookie mistakes :p
Your idea of using eyeshadow for paw pad prints is adorable. I love pads of all types (cheek, hand, foot)! Because your idea is so awesome I would wish there would be a way of preserving the cuteness other than taking a picture.
As another thought, I have those DIY glue, stencil, glitter tattoo kits and I wonder and think mineral eyeshadow would be safe and have some staying power that might be a good use for your boys? You really just need the glue which is cheap. Also, I use the cheapo glitter black lord & berry eyeliner from BB as cat whiskers.
    Hmmm… Think I rambled too much :/

Oh jeeze the above post was not hinting at all for mineral eyeshadow got enough pixie dust but I am very excited that you found me worthy of giving a sponge too so I am all excited for that!

Maybe the people who think it smells like Pledge had to dust with Pledge as a child 🙁 I love lemon scented products! Thank you for the suggestions. My little guy is too smart. He keeps me on my toes. I love your ideas/ We’ve done some in the past, but now he is “older” and doesn’t want to fuss with glitter and crafts anymore. He wants to build.

No worries! Yes, you are sponge worthy 🙂

I had the same gripe with the Josh Rosebrook Lift spray! I spend my time trying to de-frizz and de-volumize my ridiculously curly hair, not lift it to even greater poof. Seems like the folks at Goodebox have a thing or two to learn about curly hair.
