Boxycharm Review – September 2015

Boxycharm is a beauty subscription that costs $21 and usually sends out a really good value box. Of course it depends really if you are interested in the items or not. The make up is usually not super high end but it does include mostly all full size items. I like that they have more accessible brands and find the value to always be there for me personally. Even if I try out something I don’t like it is usually worth a good belly laugh.

Here it is! The new black box makes me feel a bit more VIP for some reason…

The theme this month is: Runway Ready

I’ll be the judge of that…

Previse Skincare - HydroMilk Hydrating Lotion
Previse Skincare – HydroMilk Hydrating Lotion

Previse Skincare – HydroMilk Hydrating Lotion: Previse is actually sorta higher end in the skincare game and was a brand featured in Kloverbox. They use natural ingredients and everything I have tried has been really nice. So I was not sad to see this pop up!

The ingredients are all natural and hydrate while fighting free radicals. You put a little in your paws and warm it up and then apply. So gentle you can even put it on your earlobes! I bet this is heaven in the cold/flu season when you nose gets all raw. In the winter I always look like I have been day drinking a ton because my nose is so red.

This has all natural Bulgarian Lavender in it, I didn’t know Bulgaria was known for that!

Vasanti - Professional Foundation Brush
Vasanti – Professional Foundation Brush

Vasanti – Professional Foundation Brush: I am all about brushes and this one is soft and will work well for when I apply actual liquid foundation. I usually just use tinted sunscreen and a finishing powder because I like to keep it light. I am excited to give this a try though because there is nothing worse than getting foundation all over your hands! Ok, there are a lot of worse things. Still, when I am putting on actual foundation it means I am going to wear some nice clothing. If I get anything on my hands it WILL find its way to my clothing.

It says it will help you achieve the flawless look, Does this brush also ensure nothing get stuck in my teeth?

Tart Cosmetics - SmolderEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner (Fig)
Tart Cosmetics – SmolderEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner (Fig)

Tart Cosmetics – SmolderEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner (Fig): I love to get Tart products so that was a score! I was sad I got the thick eyeliner because I usually go for a thinner line and this will probably only be used for nighttime looks. It is waterproof which makes me nervous. I am… not very good at putting liner on. I often make mistakes. Big mistakes. Most of the time it is when I try to make the liner even on both eyes. For whatever reason I find it a hard task!

Wear this and keep using the word “Smolder” over and over. “Oh silly, you smolder when you smile salaciously!” “I think I will go with a white wine… It chills me when I smolder”

Chella - Eyebrow Defining Gel
Chella – Eyebrow Defining Gel

Chella – Eyebrow Defining Gel: I don’t fully get the worlds obsession with eyebrows right now. Maybe it is because mine are so sparse, uneven, and round. Actually it is probably that. Anyway I like this gel because it is not super stiff like all the other ones I have tried. I don’t want to move my eyebrows and hear a crackle. I will use this because one of my eyebrows tends to always get messed up. I must have a weird nervous tick that makes me mess it up…

I think I could start my own eyebrow bar…

SCRATCH - Nail Wraps
SCRATCH – Nail Wraps

SCRATCH – Nail Wraps: This was a polarizing item on the forums. I should have counted the “I am going to unsubscribe” posts. I personally like nail wraps and these look pretty cool. I don’t get the nail wraps hate but maybe because nail stickers to me are fun and I don’t mind the downsides of using them. People usually dislike that they don’t always perfectly fit a nail or that they come off. I think it will be fun to test these out!

These are “Limited Edition” so maybe if you hold on to them in the next 50 years the value will skyrocket!

Kardashian Beauty - Black Seed Dry Oil
Kardashian Beauty – Black Seed Dry Oil

Kardashian Beauty – Black Seed Dry Oil: This was a bonus item and I will try it out. I have dry hair that needs all the help it can get. I giggled at the thought of “Kardashian Beauty.” Not that they aren’t a pretty family, they just are a world away from what I look like. A huge world away! My rump alone is on the other side of spectrum!

Black Seed huh? Where did they get that?!?

Verdict: Boxycharm usually has at least one product in it that is worth the price paid for the entire box. This time was no different. I love being able to try new products and it really seems that they are getting nicer brands. I will have fun trying everything out and it all went with the Runway theme.

Love this review, the rump comment alone is worth the price of admission. The, secret to eyeliner is keep as close to lash line as possible, then just smudge gently.

I need to figure it out. Why is one eye always thicker than the other? How do I fix this ever present problem. It’s like whenever I go to the range to shoot I always pull to the right really bad. (Don’t worry I am not gun crazy, just crazy!)

The smudge is truly the key. I had something of a learning curve when I switched from my cheapo pencil liners to those waterproof gel liners I can’t seem to stop buying from Julep, and a smudge brush was crucial to me not looking horrid.
