The box is further customized by selecting the monthly delivery options: 1 time only, monthly, every other month, or every 3 months.

Subscription: Burke Decor Cool & Fresh Spa Box

Cost: $45.00 (I think shipping is $6.00, waived if over $50.00)

I poked around on the blogs and forums. The Cool and Refresh Spa Box is the only box that has problems matching scents to the descriptions. The Warm & Earthy and Floral and Fruit Spa boxes scents match the box description. The Cool and Refresh Spa Box according to their website page should contain cucumber, mint, eucalyptus, tea tree, and other scents. I have received “other scents” and one Mint & Moss Nest Lotion since being a subscriber in April 2015.

Almost every month I send Burke Decor an email expressing my dissatisfaction over the lack of cool and refresh scents. I always receive an email back stating that scents can be in more than one category. I understand that, but what is wrong with including the scents that you are advertising? I want mint, cucumber, etc.  Then I received a strong floral scent in my July box.  A couple of emails went back and forth and then silence.

No response if I am to receive the scents that they advertise in the box. No response either to my emails asking where is my spa box. I sent an email on 9/2 and 9/4 asking for the status of my August box. I finally called them on 9/8 and was told it would ship the next day. Amazingly their customer service department responded to emails for additional home boxes during the time that my emails were left unanswered.

The candle is in a beautiful package and comes with matches.

Kobo Green Pearl and Jasmine Candle: The candle is to last 70 hours. It has a light floral scent and comes in a beautiful package.

A thoughtful inclusion.

It’s a beautiful candle. I feel bad for complaining about it, but the concept is to receive scents within a certain grouping.

Candle #2
Candle #2

Ceramic Alta Candle in Laguana Design by Voluspa: This candle has a 120 hour burn time. I’m not sure why Burke Decor decided to send two candles. I received plenty of candles from them already.

It’s a beautiful ceramic candle with a lid. The lid is to remain open while the candle is burning.

The light, pleasing scent is from the aquatic family.

The ceramic container can easily be reused.

Soap
Soap

Lucia No 7 Sea Watercress and Chai Tea Soap: The soap has a light, pleasing scent. I feel as though I need a thesaurus. Everything I received has a  light scent.

100% Shea
Shea Butter

The soap is a high quality soap.

Verdict: The brands are what I expect from Burke Decor. The lack of customer service is not what I expected. I also expect Burke Decor to come through with what is being advertised. I have yet to receive the advertised fragrances. I’ve emailed them a few times stating I want the mint, cucumber, etc. Personally, I think they should drop this option. I have not read of any issues with the other two offerings.

Furthermore, I am cancelling my home box. It peeves me to no end that I emailed them twice in September requesting a status update with no response.  Yet, Burke Decor was able to email people to let them know that they will be receiving a white blanket in their home box.  I am finished with Burke Decor reviews. Yes, Burke Decor is aware I am a blogger.

The only way I would ever subscribe back is if they would deliver my spa box full of cucumber and mint products by using a unicorn pulling an emerald-encrusted chariot.

Subtle scents and customer no-service, is not acceptable.

I think we should do “Kelly Says” posts! Like a wrap up of the month. You always write such great summations!

My favorite Kelly comment is from the Vegan Cut Fashion box. “This is in wrong hemisphere.”

SNAP! I’m behind you on this. It’s annoying as hell to try order something, something that is offered as a choice, and not get it.

Sorry I cannot chime in those candles are mesmerizing me even though the soap is snapping me somewhat back to topic.
Now I wonder whether candles will be part of the Home box this month *candle envy*
Yes, I know customer service did not email me back …
    *goes to light a candle*

I understand. The products are great. They really do come through on that end.

I completely understand canceling a box based on poor customer service. Done the same myself.

Really want to see that marvelous unicorn.

Yes! The unicorn pulling the emerald-encrusted chariot would be a grand thing to see! I would buy a Burke Decor sub myself if they can make that happen for you. 🙂

$51 for 2 candles and a soap… and none of them mint or cucumber – I would be very annoyed, but the lack of response to your emails is the worst yet. And no, your review isn’t “negative” – it’s actually quite fair and positive about the individual items themselves.

I agree with Pnut that the candles are mesmerizing… especially that Kobo one – I want! Trying to decide if I can defend spending $38 for it. I don’t usually pay that much for a candle. Also I can’t tell how big it is – even Amazon doesn’t say how many oz. or what the approximate burn time is supposed to be.

    • September 14, 2015 at 2:59 pm

I saw this listing on Amazon. It says 80 hour burrntime and 11 oz glass http://www.amazon.com/Kobo-Candles-Candle-Green-Jasmine/dp/B01430FISG I looked at my candle and can’t find a size. It might be listed on the bottom of the package. There is a label covering up information that I can’t peel off.

Thanks! I think I didn’t click “more” earlier so I couldn’t see that information.
