Flicker & Flame Review – September 2015

Flicker and Flame is a candle subscription for those who like to have their houses smell good, relax, be romantic, or just like controlled fires! I was attracted to this subscription because curated scents sound so much better to me than trying to find something that doesn’t smell like cheap perfume at the local Ross. I also like the idea of getting a quality soy candle that has scents specifically suited to what I enjoy.

When you sign up at Flicker and Flame you fill out a profile that details what types of scents you like. I was sort of blown away at the different types of scents and groupings! I honestly just don’t want another candle that smells nice when I am buying it but ends up smelling my house up like an off brand fragrance mist reminiscent of a freshly cleaned public bathroom. I guess I am just picky that way.

You also choose the different types of reasons you are lighting the candle. I thought this was actually pretty genius. I would pick relax because they did not have “my cat sometimes gets a wee bit smelly but then blames me and people believe her” as an option choice.

The cost is: $25 a month but the cost gets lower if you buy at 3 months ($70), 6 months ($125), or a year ($225) upfront.

Each month you are sent a 10oz candle that burns over 40 hours in a scent curated for you, and matches. All of this packaged up to look pretty!

You can click here to check it out if you want!

Brighten up your day!
Brighten up your day!

Doesn’t this look like it would make the most awesome and easy hostess gift? It is the perfect thing to have waiting when you need to give a nice gift but you don’t have the time to go skulking around the mall to find.

My scent for September? Sea Mist, Orange Blossom, and Jasmine. This was perfect for me because it smelled clean and bright! In fact just opening it filled the room with a soft fragrance.

Pretty Big!
Pretty Big!

I like how simple the candle looks and the heavy frosted glass and nice size makes this a candle I can light while trying to set the mood for my kitty to finally come sit on my lap!

40 hour burn time? This candle works more than a lot of my relatives!

Verdict: At first $25 might seem a lot for a candle but I have spent more for lesser quality. I think Flicker & Flame is a special treat that is a great gift for yourself or to have on hand. Seriously, I already can think of a couple people I want to gift this to and save myself from fretting over their gift. It is not everyday you can get a candle that is curated and handmade with you in mind! Finally, I can set the mood while bragging “You know Darling, you simply can’t expect any old candle will be lit when you visit me!”

The scent sounds amazing. I had no idea that the subscription worked the way you described. I always want to buy whatever you review.

The sub is actually amazing! I think they don’t get the most in depth reviews because their review boxes aren’t personalized.

Lets hope you didn’t want to sub to Frenchbox though.. 🙂

    That scent sounds wonderful!
I can’t decide which line made me laugh more: the one about sometimes your cat smells and blames you or about this candle working more than do e of your relatives! Bwahahahaha!
