GlobeIn Review + Coupon – September 2015

Disclosure: I bought this box with my own money, post contains affiliate links

GlobeIn is a subscription that seeks to bring the world to you every month in the form of carefully curated artisanal goods from throughout the world. They take the time to make sure items are fairly traded and therefore support artists and their work. This theme is really important to me as a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer I saw first hand while serving how much it can mean to an artist, family, and whole community to be fairly paid for their hard work. It can mean a drastically better life!

GlobeIn has two boxes:

Artisan Box: $35 a month, $33 per month with a 3 month subscription, and $30 a month with a 6 month subscription. Use coupon codes WELCOME to save 25% off of your first box with a 3 month subscription!!!

Benefit Basket: A smaller version of the Artisan Box that has one item nestled a basket: $19.99 a month or $56.95 every 3 months. Use coupon code TRYBENEFIT to save $7 off of a 3 month subscription!!!

This month’s theme is Wellness and GlobeIn partnered with Watsi to bring us this box. Watsi connects medical patients who can’t afford the procedures they need with donors on the web. 50% of the profits from this box was given to Watsi which means everything in this box helps support wellness!

Inside they included a $5 Watso Gift Card so that you can get started in helping people all over the world live a better life. It was super easy to use and it took me about 5 minutes to put a little money into someones fund. Super easy and really a nice program!

ABAN Women’s Empowerment Program – Blessing Bag ( Ghana): Zipper Close up!

ABAN Women’s Empowerment Program – Blessing Bag ( Ghana):This bag is way more sturdy than I thought it would be! the inside is lined with recycled plastic so if you have a spill it is not a huge deal. I really like the design and wish this was more of a shoulder bag so that I could tote it all around town. Even the zipper has cute detailing!

If I pull gum from this bag to give to someone with hot breath I can just tell them it is a blessing of better breath!

Shipibo - Eye Pillow (Peru)
Shipibo – Eye Pillow (Peru)

Shipibo – Eye Pillow (Peru): I used to think eye pillows were pointless but I have since become a convert in a big way. I use an eye mask to sleep and it works wonders for a good rest. A nice eye mask placed just right can send you away to a place where you are a goddess of rest and everyone falls at your feet while noticing how slim your ankles are.

The design is sweet and the weight is perfect for one of those “I have my eye pillow on think twice before bothering me” rests.

All I need now is a super long straw to sip wine from so that I can keep my eye pillow on and be sure I don’t spill!

Atacora - Baobab Super Fruit Powder (Benin)
Atacora – Baobab Super Fruit Powder (Benin)

Atacora – Baobab Super Fruit Powder (Benin): I go on and on about how I don’t believe in super anything and I stand by that. I am willing to give this a try though and I am sure it will be a healthy addition to my questionable diet. They include a smoothie recipe in the pamphlet which I might try but then again I might just mix this into my oatmeal and call it a day!

They need to invent wine supplements!

Palm Leaf Basket (Mexico)
Palm Leaf Basket (Mexico)

Palm Leaf Basket (Mexico): One more to add to my little collection. These are cute and useful to keep your stuff in. I tried to wear it as a hat but was told I looked like a crazy lady. What else is new?

All I need is a kitten to go with my basket…

Verdict: GlobeIn did a great job staying true to their mission of helping the world. They featured interesting products from all over the word that were quality! I am glad they were able to partner with Watsi and help people obtain medical care. If that doesn’t say wellness then what does?

I received my last benefit basket yesterday and we got the same matching basket and blessing bag. I was just thinking that the blessing bag would be perfect for its crinkliness for kitties and wee one’s toys. What do you think?

I think it’s perfect for kitties! I’m not sure about wee ones as I don’t have any but if they are as cool as cats then yes.

I got mine today too! It looks great but I haven’t had time to look to closely. I need to figure out something cool to do with my baskets!

I drinking Shiraz! I also snort! Today I snorted at a typo Pnut made. I took some pretty lame selfies for a clothing review I am doing and I laughed and laughed

I think I’m going to love this box whenever I get it. There is currently a rift in the space-time continuum: according to the tracking info my box is in two states at once. I hope that we all recover but just in case I had an extra glass of Yellowtail Shiraz tonight! If I’m going out in a time warp I intend to be suitably tipsy at the time.

I love your review! It’s a great balance of being informative and humorous. Maybe grapeseed extract is a wine supplement 🙂 . I love the long straw line!

I just got my third benefit basket, and I feel like a crabby mccrabberton from Crabville, but I wasn’t wild about the items. I love the idea and I actually really like the stories and pictures, but the baskets smell fishy and don’t want to put anything in them. I did LUURRRVE the dryer balls, and even my boyfriend uses them.

Oh and I do like the idea of giving the super crinkly bag to a small human or a furry beast. I do like it, it is gorgeous, but I could see myself somehow ending up at a movie theater wanting to get my old bag of Sun Chips and a mini wine glass out of my zippy mccrinkletown purse, and seeing every head turn in the theater. Quel horreur!

    • September 23, 2015 at 4:59 am

I love it how you left Crabville to a movie theater! I had a Sun Chips obsession when they came out I remember the crinkliness now you mention it lol.

My baskets do not smell fishy you can bet I took a huge huffs (as Subista would say) after reading your post … they smell something though but I use one for TP (Hot Pink), corralling plastic bags for stinky diapers (Red), and the small humans took possession of the last one which has rubber duckies (another Hot Pink). They are obsessed with rubber duckies.

It is awesome to share your balls with loved ones.

I have spent some time sniffing my baskets and have not noticed a smell. My cat said she doesn’t either but I would be turned off if I got a fishy one!!! LOL I love the crinkly bag in a place where we need to be quiet!

I’ll bring mine to the library! And when I get dirty looks, I’ll have to come up with something that Subscriptionista would say or do…

I haven’t noticed a smell but you can be sure I’m going to sniff then when I get home this evening. I’m sure it will be a funny sight.

        • September 23, 2015 at 9:39 am

Oh you should most definitely take ol’ crinkle bags to the library. I am getting my Library and Information Science master’s, and one thing we discussed was how libraries should be your third place — somewhere you feel comfortable after work and home. Somewhere you can audibly sneak a bag of Cheetos whilst laughing at Calvin and Hobbes books.

If you get in trouble at the library just whisper really loud “It’s a BLESSING bag, you’re welcome!” And the shush them like they are crazy

        • September 23, 2015 at 10:38 am

What would Subista do? Love It!
