Umba Box brings handmade goods to your door each month form artists all over the world. They are dedicated to buying ethically and promoting a fair wage. Maybe they should speak to all of our bosses? I found out about this box from MSA and decided to go for it, then promptly forgot that I had signed up. It was a pretty cool surprise when it arrived on my doorstep!

There are two options you can choose from. Either the Discover or Delight. The Delight is more expensive and has different goods in it (from $56 to $45 a month depending on your subscription length). The Discover is $30 to $23 a month depending on your subscription length. I need to do some more digging because it is tough to say how the two boxes are different but I think Delight has more handmade home and kitchen goods. I could be wrong on that note. They also have a box that caters to babies (actual babies not adults who act like them).

Elizabeth Ashlie Jewelry - Semi-Precious Necklace
Elizabeth Ashlie Jewelry – Semi-Precious Necklace

Elizabeth Ashlie Jewelry – Semi-Precious Necklace: This company was stated by two sisters, who were born with more style than I will ever have. One of the sisters also has a blog about life and style. I read some of her posts (thelaurenelizabeth.com)  and I could not even hope to attempt such a blog! I am lucky if I wear matching socks!

The necklace is pretty and I do like it. The stone looks a lot like petrified wood which will go with a lot of my clothing and not be super hard to wear. I could not find the exact necklace but linked in the name of the product to something just like it.

If anyone comments on my necklace I can just nonchalantly say “This? It is actually a calcified piece of wood from the stake that killed Dracula, or it’s like a stone of some sort a stylish woman used to make it on Etsy… I can’t really remember”

Little Trees Studio - Letter Pressed Notecards
Little Trees Studio – Letter Pressed Notecards

Little Trees Studio – Letter Pressed Notecards:  I don’t really mind getting notecards in sub boxes. Some people tend to get annoyed. I think when I am on MSA and someone comments that they are “tired of every sub box sending paper products” I will tell them “Maybe you will feel better if you take your anger and write it down… on a notecard!”

These cards are cute and simple. Because it is so simple and peaceful your words will really make an impact. Unless you use a lot of soft language. You wouldn’t send a note on this to complain to anyone or write a break up note. I am not even sure if people do that anymore. I mean, that’s what texts are for right? Anyway, I can totally see myself writing a little love note on it about how I should get more flowers, chocolate, and probably attention. After all what is love if you do not assist someone in loving you?

The notecards were hand printed on a “vintage Chandler & Price and Vandercook letterpress.” All of which sound like fancy last names of families who would never invite me over for cocktails.

Verdict: I think Umba box is sweet and stays true to its goal to promote handmade goods. They have had a range of products show up in the three months I have been subscribed. This will be my last Umba box for awhile only because I have to cut back on some costs. I think a subscription to this would be perfect for that Do-Gooder in your life!

If that wood is from the stake that killed Dracula, I want one! if any ever said something like that to me when I complimented them, I would love it! (After a moment of hesitation to wonder if they’re joking…)
So I didn’t look at the name on top to see who wrote this, but it quickly became clear that this blog post was from Subscriptionista! You both have such unique voices – love it. 🙂

I’ll take that as a compliment 🙂 I tried to mimic Subscriptionista’s voice in the beginning and couldn’t. She’s the best!

Definitely a compliment. Subscriptionista is always outrageously, laugh out loud hysterical! You sometimes make me LOL, sometimes make me chuckle, often make me say “awwwww” and are always relateable. You also take the most wonderful photos! Of products, flowers, cats, your son J…

You ladies make a fabulous team!

I love the review! I cheeked out her blog. Did you see how she store her watches? I love receiving paper products in sub boxes.

    Great necklace comment!

I lightly checked out her blog. I get sort of anxious when I read style blogs. I just start feeling so frumpy and unorganized lol
