Funko X-Men Deadpool Figure:  T already purchased the Funko. The Funko was released in October 2014. There are fans that love the blue and yellow uniform. There are other fans that prefer Deadpool’s red uniform.

I don’t understand and don’t want to know.

Deadpool is known for breaking the fourth wall. This shirt illustrates him doing it.

Ript Apparel: I love how they printed their website on the shirt. It’s a fun website to explore. The made in Mexico t-shirt is 90% cotton and 10% polyester.

The tag is a tear-away tag. No more having tags scratching the base of your neck.

T loves the shirt. He says it is soft.

I don’t understand most of his t-shirts.

ETA – Who is Deadpool: Deadpool had incurable cancer and was approached by an agency for an experimental treatment. The treatment resulted in his ability to heal almost instantly, meaning he can’t die. The treatment took effect right after an explosion that left 3rd-degree burns all over his body. That is why he wears the suit. He becomes a mercenary and works for what he believes in that is money. He’s considered a hero in this movie because he is trying to save his girlfriend.

In the comic book world, he works with the X-men, Spiderman, Dare Devil, Captain America, and Iron Man and maybe more. They don’t like working with him, but are forced to when their missions align.  He breaks the 4th wall in the comic books by talking to the readers and references older comic books. The other people in the storyline can’t figure out what he is talking about or to whom he is speaking. One of his weapons is a rubber chicken because he can’t die. He likes Chimichanga. He does weird and funny things to help him deal with not being able to die. The comic books imply sex, but covers up their goodies.

Verdict: T loves his Deadpool box. It has great items that he will use. He’s a little disappointed about the Funko because he already owns it, but that is the risk he takes. The Deadpool movie arrives in theaters February, 2016.

SB, perhaps the magnet can go in your son’s locker? Also, I’d never heard of Deadpool, looked it up, and my husband [Ryan Reynolds] is in it! This movie looks pretty funny [and also a bit gory with sexy times, so perfect for teen boys] and is probably the first superhero movie I’ve ever been excited to see.

I have much to learn from you. How to snag a husband like Ryan Reynolds and how to embed YouTube videos. My son wants to see it. I haven’t decided yet, but i am leaning more towards no. Maybe when it is out on DVD. He’s been asking me about it often.

He wants to put the Deadpool magnet on his desk. I think I saw magnet strips at Ikea???

I actually did not realize it would embed the video! Apparently WordPress comments can do secretly fancy things, which is weird because I had to use it for a class blog last year and I could not [magic italics please?] get it to even show a video when I tried embedding it with code.

I don’t know how old your son is, but the movie looks pretty R rated [though, I saw Showgirls, the Hammer movie, and loads of inappropriate films when I was young, so…].

He’ll still be 16 when the movie is released.

      This movie looks AWESOME!!

I couldn’t remember if you had to be 17 or 18 to see a Rated R movie without an adult so I looked it up and it’s 17. I saw movies that were “too old” for me all the time as a kid but… that was then. In this case, I would think it depends on the 16 yr-old… will a few months make a difference in his maturity? Could/would he sneak and see it anyway??

It’s the sex parts. I know, I know. He’s my baby 🙁 He wants me to watch it with him because he’ll still be 16 when it is released. I know he is 16 etc. It’s the mom part of me.

That is a really cool t-shirt, but yeah, I had no idea who Deadpool was either. Other than these comments, I still don’t know.

I should get T to do a little write-up on Deadpool and add it to the post. Deadpool is part of the Marvel Universe. It’s my understanding that Deadpool had incurable cancer. An agency approached with a cure, but it left his face a mess. It also allows him to heal quickly.

Deadpool considers himself an anti-hero, a mercenary for hire. He also has his own code of conduct that he follows. He loves tacos, will talk to the audience, and is funny. The breaking of the wall/being humorous bit is what makes him popular with T’s peer group.

More characters will have their own movie etc. as the Marvel Universe storyline progresses in the movies.

Wow! I’m glad I own some Disney stock then! More sub boxes for me!!!

Any super-hero/anti-hero that likes tacos is cool in my book. Thanks for the explanation!

Disney should make a ton of money off of the Marvel Movie Universe. They have something like the next 3 years of movies planned out. It’s a big deal to my teenager.

T wanted me to point out that Fox owns the movie rights to Deadpool. Deadpool, as a main character, does not belong to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I updated the post with more Deadpool information. I forgot to add that a theme behind his movie is – With great power, comes great irresponsibility.
