Saturday Empties and Favorites

Good Morning Hawaii Time!
Remember when I wanted to post this on Friday nights so all you Mainland folks would see it on your Saturday Morning?!? Well, Christmas happened. Christmas is a scared day for me so there was no work done on this post until now!

I hope on your Christmas that you achieved this level of relaxation

Ok lets dig through everybody’s trash!

This week I am so stoked to have more than just my stuff!

Here is Heat7918 empties for the past 2 weeks with awesome descriptions!

Heather

When 10pm Sheet Mask – I actually used this at 10AM (I’m a rebel! The good kind like in Star Wars!) Not sure which beauty box this came in… BeautyFix? BoxyCharm? Anyway, rather than the sheet just having a normal plastic backing, this mask has plastic on the back and a cloth layer in front… yes, 3 layers. The problem was that I removed the plastic back first & then realized there were still 2 layers to peel apart and then I wasn’t sure which one was the middle, the actual mask. It turns out that the cloth-like layer – which seems like most traditional face masks – is NOT the mask. The actual mask is a jelly-like consistency… which I did ultimately like except that I think it smelled plastic-y. This mask gets rave reviews and I thought it felt really nice – I’m one of those people that never notices a dramatic difference right away with anything so I can’t say my crow’s feet were less noticeable or anything but my skin did feel hydrated. FYI – this mask says to leave on for 30 minutes which I did – but I know some busy people who would say “Ain’t nobody got time for that!” I guess I’m nobody.  🙂
Dr. Jart Vital Hydra Solution Deep Hydration Sheet Mask – I ordered this from Birchbox during 30% off. Very hydrating, felt great. This is “only” a 15-20 minute mask. Didn’t erase my crow’s feet or do anything miraculous to my skin but nothing does so don’t hold that against it. Not sure I’d pay full price b/c I’m happy with cheap masks too.
Golden Root Purifying Mud Mask, Racine Doree – This is the tiny round container next to the Simple Water and I think it came in Petit Vour? (Fighting Bunnies!) I get a few pimples during a certain time of the month (stupid hormones) so I thought a mud mask might help – not sure if this helped much but I liked it. It’s fun to smear mud on your face & it looks cool scary / funny! I definitely felt it tighten my skin as it dried but not in a skin-drying way, if that makes sense? This little container is enough for at least 2, maybe 3 applications but it isn’t resealable so… I used it a second time but it was thicker/dryer – probably should have put it in a ziploc bag or something?
ToGoSpa Eyes in Coconut – (ToGoSpa has it’s own sub and this was from my first box.) I liked this 3 pack of under eye treatments. Yes, I used all 3 which I actually consider 3 empties!  Again, my crow’s feet didn’t disappear and not sure if I had reduced puffiness or looked less tired… but I wasn’t really puffy or tired anyway. I only tried refrigerating them the 3rd time (which is a suggested tip on the package) and that felt extra refreshing – not too cold like I was worried about.  The thing I don’t like about these is that they really don’t stay in place on my face (I’m a poet and I know it!) – major slippage even when I’m just sitting reclined and not moving much. Maybe I have a slippery face?
Peter Thomas Roth Camu Camu Power C x 30 – Interesting name, lovely serum! (This foil was a bonus from Onderria in a swap – thank you!) It smells kind of like an orange candy… or Tang, for those of you who remember that drink.  This felt really nice on my skin and any of my beauty subs are welcome to include a deluxe sample in one of my boxes.
Simple Cleansing Micellar Water – I LOVE Micellar waters. Simple is definitely by far the cheapest that I’ve ever found and you can get it at Ulta or Target. It’s not quite as good as some of the more expensive ones  but probably not enough difference for many people to care. I use it in the mornings on a cotton pad to wash my face – it’s a very gentle, non-drying way (for my dry skin) to remove sleepies, face oils and the products I put on before bed. Although gentle, it is strong enough to remove make-up and some people (like my mom) use it for that almost every night.  I’ve done that on occasion when I’m out late and don’t want to use a cleansing cloth which tends to be more drying. (I’ve read some things about cleansing cloths that make me cautious – I still use them but not as much on my face… and I prefer to rinse with water after or at least use a toner after.)
Caudalie VinoPerfect Radiance Serum – (Vino! Does that mean I should drink wine every time I use this? Yes!) This came in the Birchbox all-serums box. I love serums… this is something new that started in early 2015 because I didn’t really use them before that. I love getting them in sub boxes and never get enough! The ratio of serum to cleansers & moisturizers is very low so they are always welcome. This serum looks kinda milky and is a little thicker than just a liquid but not much. It has a nice, light pleasant scent. No miracles but, as you know by now, I don’t get many skin miracles which I’m okay with.
Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray – A hair product empty! That’s a change for me. I only wash my hair about twice per week and my hair is somewhat thin (not thinning but the strands are “fine”) and so my hair product stash is HUGE because I can hardly ever make a dent in it. This smelled good, worked fine – not noticeably better or worse than other leave-in sprays.  This was probably from Ipsy or Birchbox?
Sorry if this was too long! Happy Holidays!
I love your rebellious ways Heat! The force is strong with you!
Next up in Onderria’s trash bag:
On3
Fresh Apple Mask Sheet: I received this in a swap, and liked the scent.
Hello Toothpaste: from Target Beauty Box. I wasn’t a fan of this, and in addition my boyfriend told me to brush my teeth right after using it.
CAILYN Cosmetics Dizzolv’it Makeup Melt Cleansing Balm: I loved this! I savored this for a long time because it is expensive to buy but worked super well.
Couto Portuguese Toothpaste: this is from Eucopia, a European box. It had a really nice design where the cap was to be used to puncture the foil seal, but I’m dumb to useful packaging and used a pen then noticed the lid later. My brother got this as well and didn’t like it, but I didn’t mind it. I really liked how the metal packaging actually stayed when it was pressed.
I AM JUICY COUTURE perfume: I was trying to use up my 9 million perfume samples and started with this last week, and my boyfriend liked it so much he bought me the perfume and lotion set. I’ve never owned anything brand-ish like this… I told my boyfriend it makes me feel like a fancy escort. It’s lingering and girly, so my boyfriend noticed right away when his male coworker walked by wearing this (because he liked the scent) =) too cute.
I love seeing a review of a good make-up remover. I will now be obsessed with securing a Cailyn sample!
Alright, I have a mix of trash and sample trials this week:
100100% Pure Nourishing Body Cream (free sample from Black Friday Purchase):These were free with purchase. My favorite smell by far was the Pink Grapefruit. These worked well and were free of yucky stuff so wins in my book although I doubt I will re-purchase as the scents were really strong in all three packets.
PicMonkey Collage26
Birchbox Samples:
Somehow I never seem to get the Birchbox sample I select (another one of Birchbox’s list of disappointments lately). I did not select the smokey color but somehow that is what I got! So I decided to play around with them because well applying makeup for me always seems to end in me laughing my booty off. I watch You Tube after You tube of these people making it look so easy and then this is what happens when I try. I am laughing right now thinking of how this in all its horror was the better of my two attempts!!
Feel free to laugh your booty off too at my hilarious attempts to re-create some sort of eye look!!
Coastal Scents Social Eyes palette
So I know very little about makeup but I found the pigment on these shadows to be a little lacking. It still looks really light on my skin even thought I applied 4 coats! So even though it is not empty I will be tossing it.
The Balm shadow/blush in Frat Boy:
The pigment is a little better on this color. But it is really similar to other colors I have so I don’t think I will be reaching for it.
That’s all folks! Thanks for reading and save your trash! Email me your contents at: mailboxjunkie808 at gmail dot com for next week!

Heat I enjoyed your commentary. I have noticed MORE wrinkles since starting to take care of my skin with sunscreen and serums and face masks and night creams this year. Depressing. I love that the Camu Camu smelled like Tang =D

Mailbox Junkie, I also found the Coastal Scents to be lacking pigment. Sometimes I can’t tell if it’s the palette or my skin color. I got a reddish and beige, and while it looked nice, I wanted DEEP SCANDALOUS colors haha. But perhaps what I ended up with was more appropriate for a Christmas dinner party… I also cannot do smokey eyes or that 3-4 shade thing on my eyelids with corner Vs. I finally figured out cateyes so I’ll stick with that.

I know what you mean about the skin color. I think that is part of my problem to. I got the Becca palette in the Psmh box and the shadows themselves are amazing but you can hardly see them on me. People seem to love CS but I think it is more for the people who know what they are doing……

Great post!!!!! I love simple’s water because it really is cheaper compared to what I was spending before.

I may have to try that one. My current MO is vitamin e oil but it can get so greasy around the eyes

I just have crazy dry skin. It is insanity. You know lotions that everyone will say “left me greasy”? For me it just soaks right in. I drink water too. sigh…

Great post! I just finished my Simple water too. I love it. I watch eye makeup tutorials all the time. I try so hard to recreate the looks. Everyone makes them look so easy to do. Yet, when I finish, I look like a drunk hooker (no offense to hookers, drunk or sober. I don’t judge). I was so proud of my sparkly, rose gold smoky eyes the other day. I got in the car, my husband looked at me and said “Interesting eyes”. I kid you not. We were already late to a function, or I would have washed it all off. But, I held my head up high and my interesting eyes and I walked right in like we owned the party. Thank Goodness that at 49, I have finally found peace in not caring what others think. At least I made an impression!

Ok yes, you know exactly how I feel!! My husband says the same things to me. What usually happens to me is that I apply tons of eyeshadow but then I look at myself in the mirror or try to take a picture and it looks like I am wearing none….. I just tell myself to keep practicing if only for the laughs!

Rose gold smokey eyes sound gorgeous!! I never had a bestie to practice makeup with… maybe I’ll just practice on my brother’s tiny humans. They’ll be the hookeriest 3 and 5 year olds you’ve ever seen outside of a beauty pageant!
