LIT UPista: Soundless + Blueberry Tea Cocktail

A couple of weeks ago I decided to start a bookstagram account. #bookstagram

What the french is that?, you may be asking. WELL! It is where people take pictures of books and bookish things and devote an Instagram to it.

I lurve books, and started subbing to book subscriptions a couple of months ago, so thought I would give it a go. My first issue is: I don’t take amazing, glamorous pictures. I have a phone camera. Nuff said. Second: I don’t like buying new books and generally just listen to audiobooks. SO I thought I would take my bookstagram in a different direction.

Check it out: @subbookista, subscribe, and while you’re there make sure you subscribe to @subscriptionistablog!

In addition to books, I also enjoy the occasional libation.

bell-a of the bar
She thinks she is SO clever when she gets up there.

Hence, a new Subscriptionista series is born! Just in case you do not appreciate double entendres or reside inside my mind [where I laugh at all my own jokes], here is the name breakdown:

literature [lit] + alcohol [lit up] + Subscriptionista blogging = LIT UPista
#LITUPista

So, this series will show you a new drink recipe plus a little bit about a book-in-progress [mostly sub box books, but we’ll see].

The Book: Soundless by Richelle Mead
[from OwlCrate, November 2015]

OwlCrate November Soundless

I am really enjoying this so far! Last night I reached halfway–I am trying to read 1-2 chapters every night before bed instead of playing on my phone.

It’s sort of missing something, however. I feel like I am not getting enough visual elements so I have had to go back and reread several sections. They’re always eating “meals”, but what are these mystery meals? Is it a sandwich? Is it a ramen ball with duck and persimmon inside?

Look for the review coming up soon!

The Drink: Blueberry Tea Cocktail

Blueberry Tea

Last night I wanted tea BUT I also wanted some drinky drink. Sooo, I turned to the internet for some help making an alcoholic blueberry tea. Then some discussions between Subista and I sparked the idea for this series!

Recipe for Blueberry Tea Cocktail [my modified version]

  • 1oz Amaretto liqueur
  • 1oz Grand Marnier
  • 4oz hot blueberry tea
  • honey to taste

book and tea

Are you reading and/or drinking anything you want to share? I always love getting new cocktail ideas, so let us know!

Sweet thanks! Just to clarify, I live with two dudes who host football parties every other weekend. We’re not drunks. Oh and our roommate built the bar! I’ll have to take a picture with the LED lights on sometime.

That sounds like a cocktail I may need to try in the future. I find that I drink more when school starts back up.

I enjoyed Soundless. It was different than I expected but a quick and fun read.

You should! Though I think one of my favorites was when I had leftover chai and also wanted a drink so I put Baileys in it! Definitely a great study drink

I’m reading The Pale King. I wish DFW could have finished it. But I’m enjoying it nonetheless.

I’ve heard of him, but have never read anything by him. He has some pretty devote followers! I put Girl with the Curious Hair on my to-read list.

Also, my drink pairing for your book is a bourbon on the rocks with a maraschino cherry and tiny umbrella.

You furry bartender is cute! I am reading the Spark Joy from January’s Popsugar. Its easy to read and put down due to wee people needs. I think the author did not have a bi-lingual friend read the final edit but that is me…

Hah, good to know! I won’t read that one for a while–I have a lot of other books to read before I decide to clean my house. I mean… read. Perhaps I can talk you into doing the book review for that one =D

I could probably do a joint thing with you. Probably you write it up and I can elaborate would be the most effective. If you put me in charge it would be a one or two sentences. Like if it makes you happy keep it. If not throw it out. The end.
Ok that was three sentences. If you read it I will assist lol 🙂
