Not if I see you first cover

I finished this in January, and SURPRISE! it’s February, but I’ve been busy and forgot I had this post! I like books, and I like alcohol, and because I was trying to do book reviews but also drink + book overviews and do not have time for both, I’m going for the LIT UP posts instead =D Because alcohol.

Let’s read together! Last year I listened to and read 31 books, and this year I’m aiming for 35-40! I’m done with 7 so far, physical and audiobooks, and have 250+ book on my TBR list. Feel free to share you recent book loves.

I recommend this book! It was an enjoyable read with some good teen angst and heart. It also taught me a few things about blind people that I did not know. Plus, you can decode the braille that was put onto the cover of the book, and another longer message on the very last page.

I’m keeping this on my bookshelf.

As opposed to donating it or turning it into book art and posting it on Instagram where I have seen some CRAZY angry villagers! It’s a book… if it was purchased the owner may do what they pleased. Sorry… I got lost in comments one night…

I was actually really excited about the topic of Not If I See You First, and almost wanted more to happen, but really it was a good length. I was a little bummed when I was done and went to see what else the author had written and this was his first book!

Drink: Vermouth Cocktail

vermouth cocktail

I love this drink! I was trying to use up some Vermouth, and found that I actually really liked it as a drink.

Recipe for Sweet Vermouth Cocktail [from Serious Eats]

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces sweet vermouth
  • 2 dashes maraschino liqueur (or curacao or Grand Marnier)
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 1-2 dashes simple syrup, to taste
  • Twist of lemon peel, for garnish

Directions

Combine ingredients in a mixing glass and fill with ice. Stir well until chilled, about 20 seconds. Strain into chilled cocktail glass. Twist lemon peel over drink and use as garnish.

One of these days when I feel motivated and Superhuman (i.e., I won’t cut myself accidently), I want to do those safes in a book project. Not for money but just a place for my Pnut people to squirrel. Like a secret book in their bookshelf but it might be obvious as it would likely be the only thick hardcovered book on a kids bookshelf.

I read a couple of mini Dr. Suess books and made beerbread. Squeak loves mini board books I meed to get the tiny square ones she was stacking them at a playspace we visited. The beerbread was my alcohol intake, if any :/

Lovely manicured hands you got there!

fabulous review. cocktail sounds delish and makes me think of old movies where the heroine is like, “I’ll take a vermouth, darling”. I hate it when you finish a book and you just don’t want it to end and then you want to read the authors other books as if that will somehow satisfy you

I should definitely go into a bar and order a vermouth cocktail. I’d probably need a cigarette holder and some finger waves.
