In Real Life: Power Outage

In this series of posts we desire to show you how we use up all this stuff we get in the mail. It is our way of trying to show you that we are not hoarders but that we actually NEED this stuff because we USE this stuff.

It was a rainy cold Saturday on Maui. The wind was howling as it often does and the rain came fast and quick. Tropical storms tend to be dramatic like a middle school girl. Ya know, moody, dark and dramatic one minute and then sunshine and smiles the next.

So anyway, back to the howling wind. Now, this storm was unique because we had thunder and lightening which doesn’t happen often. So with a crack, pow and a bam we heard a thunder, saw a flash and then sat in darkness.

My Husband: “Do we even own any candles?”

Me: “Well it just so happens that………………. I have a subscription box stash!!!!!”
Que triumph music with drum rolls

Me: “Subscription boooooooooxxx saves the day!!!!!!!!!!”

This is when I do my happy dance that subscription boxes save us money and my husband rolls his eyes!

Hmmmm… I am burning through my stash. I love your stash! I got some emergency taper candles that are on top of the refrigerator now I should bring them to easier access. Thank you for this post and keep on subscribing for candles! You know I do!

Mailbox Junkie I got out the tapers and they are now in my hardly used taper holders received as a wedding gift. Maybe I should use them. I have backup tapers…

Most of my candles are scented so not sure I’d want them burning all at once? Indifferent rooms maybe it’d be okay… I giggled at the part where your husband asked if you even have any candles! 🙂

I know. I always need to have candles on standby. It is a small army though. How is your candle army Heat? I still need to work on that army post. I need to corral the German eyeliners they need their own picture.

My candle army is… probably 12-15? 20? No, probably more if you look in my basement and count my holiday candles. I almost NEVER burn them all the way to the bottom nor throw them away – not sure why. (Slight hoarder) I also rarely give gifts – or at least to anyone besides nieces, nephews and husband.

        I need to spring clean!!

I have a few that I wouldn’t let come out to the blackout party. One is this super nice one from Nest that came in the home box that I can’t remember the name of. I keep meaning to give it as a gift but I can’t seem to let it go….

I love my subscription boxes because I have inventory when I need a last minute gift, whether its a giftcard or beauty items or even a candle/knick knack. I get to feel smug and superior because I’m prepared and all these other schmucks are out shopping for stuff. And who doesn’t want an opportunity to feel smug and superior.

Exactly! This is where I cyber high five you. Smug Superior Subscription Box is a totally great concept for a new box!!!!

Did you receive Quarterly (cough I meant Randomly) first Design Sponge box? I loved those tapers but they were not my style (but I had serious taper envy over them). I gifted them away for the holidays and the receiver was like “these were like beautiful and expensive tapers” … Smug and superior indeed!

I don’t see any post where there is a place to put this but what should we do if you feel like you have been scammed?

I paid for the box the 3rd of March. I also bought stuff from the store that was to be shipped with my box. And no one is being replied to!
