Essence BeautyBox May 2016I got this box at a discount, 6 months for $60, and I’m calling it my Blacklady Birchbox. Or Women of Color Birchbox… whichever makes you smile =) It looks like they changed up the referral program, so now instead of referring 10 people, you only have to refer 5, which is slightly more reasonable!

Essence BeautyBox May 2016 Bae-cationThe Box: Bae-cation Essentials

Srsly? Am I alone in loathing the word “bae”?

Essence BeautyBox May 2016

I like this card with why items were chosen and by whom. When you sign up you take a little beauty quiz. It’s quite short [6 questions], and they recently sent out an email saying they were going to start using it! Which is good because, as you’ve probably noticed, there are lots of different hairstyles WOC choose to go for. I’m natural or naturally curly.

Essence BeautyBox May 2016

Essence BeautyBox May 2016 impact mascaraPur Impact Plus Mascara: $19, “Lengthen, thicken, curl & hydrate lashes.”

Essence BeautyBox May 2016 poo-pourri spray

Poo-Pourri Before You Go Toilet Spray: $9.95 for 2oz, full size!

“pooetry:
there once was a lad from rhône,
whose odor he’d rather disown.
now he’s taming his poo,
by anointing the loo,
and now happily sits on his throne!”

I laughed SO HARD when I pulled this out!! This is not only hilariously marketed, but a great item to bring on a lovey-dovey vacation. I have tried this and I will say it seems to work so far! I don’t like the faint rose/patchouli scent, but the citrus is a bit stronger so that’s nice. Also, I kept singing “I know you like to think your **** don’t stank, but move a little bit closer and see that roses really smell like poo-o-o-o-oo.”

Be sure to check out their commercial.

Essence BeautyBox May 2016 ginger yum

Ginger Yum Ginger Mint Soy Massage Candle: $5 for 2oz, full mini size!

This smells extremely minty.

Essence BeautyBox May 2016 Equitance

Equitance Brightening Foaming Cleanser: $30 for 4.2oz, so $4 for the 0.5oz sample. “Gently lathers away dull skin cells and harmful pollutants.”

This has a pearly white color and a very nice scent. I’ve got loads of other facewash samples to get through, and four came just this month!

Essence BeautyBox May 2016 simple face wipes

Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes: $4.49 for 25, or $1.25 for the 7 sample swipes. “Refresh and nourish your skin plus remove waterproof mascara.”

Subista sent me some of these! I believe they were from the Target box. I like them, and will save them for my upcoming camping trip.

Essence BeautyBox May 2016

Favorite April products: Essence really brought it last month, and I’ve been loving several of the items I received! I’ve been using the Paula’s Choice Resist Vitamin C on my healing acne scars and it seems to be helping. The Palmer lotion stick is awesome for little dry spots, and smells amazing! And I absolutely love the Mally shadow stick! It’s long wearing and I can quickly put it on in the car.

UPDATE! If you use the code SUNSHINE at checkout you get 20% off 6/12 month subs plus a free beauty box! Also, if one person signs up with my code I get a little lotion and some nail polish ;D

Memorial-Day-Sale

Verdict: I love this box! At $15 it will be an easy resub when my 6 month subscription is up. This box was okay, but all stuff I will use, and well over the $15 price point. Will any of you be subbing with their awesome deal?? $10 a box yo!

I was waiting for this review!!! What say you about poo-pouri I hear it works!

I love soy massage candles but alas I am lucky if I remember to use it as a lotion.

It works! I only worry about a build up of essential oils. But, despite the undercurrent of patchouli and rose scents, I do actually like the citrus smell.

I think this box has sent you some pretty great stuff. I am pretty impressed. The poopouri is just straight up fun.

Mrs Green, the Pouporri has a bunch of funny stuff on the label that I didn’t notice till later while I was err sitting on the floral throne!

I got a bottle of Poopouri in my first 5 Wacky Women box. I love it. My husband and I had to go watch all their commercials on YouTube. They are all hilarious. I really don’t know how the lady keeps a straight face! The Santa one is my favorite. Love your reviews!

Thanks, Susie! By the way, I think you inquired about the Paula’s Choice last month, and so far it seems to be helping my acne spots disappear nicely. It’s been a month and they’re looking much fainter. If you’re at all interested in the box they’re doing a sale right now!

I’ll have to check out the rest of the Poopouri commercials with my boyfriend! He refuses to use it [he has his daily habits and refuses girly changes like face wash, vibrating toothbrushes, poopouri, etc.].

I haven’t committed to any subscription boxes yet, but this one looks like a great option!
