How is your August going? Mine is alright. Grad courses start Wednesday, and the students start at my new school on Monday–eep!!! How is summer already done?? In the Seattle area, we had a poo summer with overcast 60 degree days. The diehard sun haters enjoyed it, but not I.

Spoiler: I like the box design the best…

2016-08-10 18.53.13The Box: Hair

beach waves oribe

Oribe Après Beach Wave and Shine Spray: $39 for 8.5 fl oz.

Need I say anything?

avene cleanser

Avène Cleanance Cleansing Gel for Face and Body: $20 for 6.76 fl oz. “The gentle formula purifies skin without aggravating it, and is especially good for oily or blemish-prone skin types.”

Apparently this is a soap-free cleanser… Subista! Anyway, it smells nice.

ultra nourishing oil

ProfilePRO® Ultra Nourishing Oil: $22.95 for 3.4oz. “This non-greasy nourishing oil tames frizz, while rosemary leaf extract keeps strands strong.”

Not sure if I’ll use this. Oils tend to magnify my frizz =\

benefit brow

Benefit goof proof brow pencil, 6 (Deep / Cool): $24. “The specially designed applicator’s custom teardrop tip ensures effortless shaping.”

Birchbox has got my brows fleeking this summer!

Though my kitty drawing is pretty weak.

manna kadar

Manna Kadar Cosmetics Day-Dream Palette: $25 for a 6 shadow palette.

This color is fantasy, but according to Ipsy it seems to be an eyeshadow/blush/highlighter. Meh. I’ve got enough similar products not to want to open a freshman powder with an undetermined major.

Favorite July product: I haven’t really used anything from the July box yet because the three items I kept were duplicates. I’ll have to go with the Avene thermal water because I didn’t have a makeup setting spray yet.

BB July (9)

Verdict: This box was a bummer. I’ll use the brow stuff and cleanser, but srsly BB?? They stopped with the Harvey Prince and now send me dry shampoo and beach spray every month. Rude.

2016-08-10 18.54.46What product(s) do you never want to see in your beauty subs again?? Let us know!

Bummer about the Oribe although it smells good if you want to use it as a hair perfume. 😉

I’m sick of dry shampoo as well – I don’t like the smell of any that I’ve tried (I’ve tried at least 5 including Amika, Living Proof & Oscar Blandi).

    No more brown eyeshadow please.

Hah I don’t usually get much eyeshadow but I’d like some pinks!

I stopped my birchbox subscription a while back. I got dissappointed by the size of the samples, they do not compare to ipsy. Then, after I had unsubscribed I learned that their point system changed and I thought wow that was the only good thing.. Crazy.

I know! When I compared Ipsy to Birchbox, the only plusses for BB were the points and their store. Otherwise Ipsy sends a wider variety of samples, tools, and a cute bag.

Sigh, why with the beach spray?! grrr… Who really uses that stuff?! Although i bet you could swap the Oribe for something on MSA because it is a pretty nice spray (somewhere a girl dying for beach spray got curl tamer)

Now that I have actual coworkers I can pawn off my samples to them! I’ve already found a couple women with wavy hair who were interested in trying beach spray.
