After eyeballing the WTF Quarterly box and following Makers Kit for almost a year, I finally decided to subscribe to them when I saw they had their own subscription box out!

Makers Kit Monthly October 2016So this started as one of those subs where you are billed in the one month and it comes the next. It’s the October box, but it came in November. However, they just changed it this month so you’re billed the 5th and you get the box 2-3 weeks later in the same month. Plus, you can go in and skip months! I just found this out while I was peeping around my account. Right now, December through April are showing with the option to skip–I chose to go bimonthly because I haven’t done any craft projects yet…

Makers Kit Monthly October 2016

Project 1: 18k Gold-plated Necklace Kit

I was a little too jazzed to see my homestate right near the top of the list. This kit came with a piece of wire, a gold chain, and jump rings.

Makers Kit Monthly October 2016Project 2: Steel Bracelet Kit

This kit had a piece of steel.

Makers Kit Monthly October 2016Project 3: Copper Ring Kit

A piece of copper.

Makers Kit Monthly October 2016Project 4: Copper Leaf Photo Clips, Set of 2

Quick dry cement, two plastic cups, and two gauges of copper wire.

Makers Kit Monthly October 2016Project 5 or Artisanal Treat: LED Tea Stained Wreath or Wildflower Bath Bomb

I received the LED Tea Stained Wreath, but I’m just going to use it to make my outdoor wreath! This is a neat idea, but I don’t really have a place to hang a wreath inside… My ArtCrate subscription sort of used up a lot of space…

In this kit was a wire wreath, two AA batteries, the pliers for the whole box, two tea bags, several pieces of paper, LED lights, and tape.

Verdict: This is a neat box. I really like Makers Kit’s projects on Instagram, and even though I can’t keep airplants alive, I like that they’ve got a lot of other fun stuff. I honestly probably won’t make any of these wire jewelry projects though because they aren’t my style. However, I WILL do something else with the wire pieces, but what I do not know.

Maker’s Kit has [had??] a points program for discounts in the shop, and they donate $ to schools.

What do you think?? Are you ready to get your craft on?

Disclosure: I paid for this, there is a referral link for you to save $10 and me to save $10.

This is a cool box! I’ve never thought about making a necklace in the shape of Texas! That might be my next grandkids sleepover craft! The girls can make necklaces and the boys can make hat pins!

That’s a fun idea, Susie! You could totally find little shapes online for them to bend the wire into as well. Do your grandsons wear hats? What does the hatpin do?

I was going to make the wreath with leftover tree trimmings, but we didn’t even have to trim our tree this year! So, I’ll just trim some rosemary and a few other branches to make it work.

Yes, they wear cowboy hats or ball caps all the time. The cowboy hats have a band on them and they put pins and feathers just to be “cool”. They wear straw hats in summer and felt hats in the winter.
