Sit Down and Get Comfortable:

So my year of Glossy with that awesome deal a year ago has ended and I need new heavy-duty sturdy box for gifts. So I it up traded up for Allure with its red box paying $10 for a half a year (Black Friday special). I have occasionally ordered Allure boxes when the spoiler contents “allured” me so I was happy to pick up a longer subscription with them.

Here is the box first peek!

Let’s Dig In!

Coastal Salt & Soul Heavenly Hand Cream
Coastal Salt & Soul Heavenly Hand Cream

Coastal Salt & Soul Heavenly Hand Cream (Blushing Peony, Mediterranean Citrus or Ocean Gardenia)

I received Blushing Peony! I would have been happy with any of the fragrances really. I usually avoid parabens and the like but fortunately this hand cream is free of that stuff! This looks like its one of those metal tubes but its a thick plastic tube that had a thin metal sticker seal on it. The reading material eludes to a secondary scent of Lily of the Valley which I only detected after reading. Allegedly there is a hint of some sandalwood but I could not detect that hint. I believe the Lilly of the Valley just accentuates the peony scent.

I love the scent of natural peonies. They were part of my bridesmaid’s bouquet.

Memories. But now I am thinking of the warmth of my wedding day since its like sub-zero temps here in Chi!

I am going to use this at night instead of serum. Or over serum if I am feeling fancy. I think my neck is doing good though because I make sure to put sunscreen, serums, and face cream on it. Oh gosh a full size is $60! The tube felt pretty full, sealed with a metal sticker thinge, and applied thick and unscented.

Maybe this cream will make any lines on my neck as fuzzy as the above photo.

I am not sure whether I want to use it or gift it so I did not swatch it. The bottom smudger is also twistable to twist up or down the actual highlighter part.

I have an army of highlighters…

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré

I have used this before and like it as a fancier version of Aquaphor with a better scent than Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream. This is a classic metal tube and you can see there is that little pokey thinge to pierce the metal seal. I used this immediately under my nose and above my lips which have been severely “kleenexed burned”. The reading material says its unscented but it smells faintly like a sophisticated old lady.

Like if I started to smell like an old lady, I would like to smell like this.

Beautyblender Liquid Blendercleanser

Beautyblender Liquid Blendercleanser

I have sampled this before and like that I have a travel size to take with me for my beauty blender. This smells lightly of lavender and maybe I will buy a full size when I run out of my MAC liquid brush cleaner. The five ounce size is on one of those fancy nail polish remover bottles! I usually use the Beautyblender solid hockey puck cleanser which does a good job but I always worry if someone will mistake it as a cute bar soap :/

And now for the variation…

Luckily for the most part, there was one variation in this month’s Allure box. Usually variations drive me batty (otherwise I would be all over that 40% Oui Please annual subscription on Black Friday). I digress, here are the variations.

Skinceuticals Blemish/Age Defense

Eau Thermale Avene Body Oil

Klorane Makeup Remover

Kevin Murphy Shampoo

Kevin Murphy Volumizer

Kevin Murphy Conditioner

This is what I received:

Kevin Murphy Shampoo
Kevin Murphy Shampoo

Kevin Murphy Shampoo

I am in love with this packaging. It has a wide mouth which is useful to wash off the last bits of product. And to refill it later. I look forward to re-using it! I am not into the lemon cake scent this has but hopefully it will give me great hair on the first wash.

My hair likes to look fabulous usually with any first shot of new shampoo. It usually only lasts the first shampoo though. Grrr…

Verdict:

I LOVE ALL OF IT!!! And the one I am not really sure of (the highlighter) is packaged really well and would make a nice add-on gift if I wish to gift it away!

What do you think of this month’s Allure Beauty Box? Do variations drive you cray cray too?

Share below any thoughts (randoms thoughts are always welcomed here) that you may have!

I got the same box, and it just came today. I like the highlighter, which I believe came in Popsugar a few months ago. I didn’t know there was a blending end so I’ll have to check that out! I’m way more impressed with this than Popsugar and with the discount it’s the same price.

I think you could be right on the highlighters being the same. I must have it squirreled the Popsugar one away somewhere…
