Merkaela Subscription Box Review + Coupon – “Solstice” Winter 2016

Merkaela is a subscription that wants to assist you, yes you right here reading this, toward your journey towards a better life of balance. Each product they send is created to help your connection to nature. I think the last time I connected with nature was when a bird pooped on my arm, so I can dig any connection that doesn’t involve that.

Merkaela keeps their products All-Natural, without chemicals or anything that will bring you down. I can credit you ladies for helping me learn about and appreciate natural products both for how well they work, but also for their benefits. I can’t say for sure that they will help me stay healthy but I can say that the peace of mind is a nice thing. Plus I don’t get weird allergic rashes, which I believe will never be in style. I also can credit you ladies with opening my eyes to the fun of taking time for myself to really enjoy my own spa time. After all, I don’t have to worry about what I will tip at home!

Cost: $48 per box quarterly or $44 per box annually

This winters collection is called “Solstice,” this is really fitting given the harshness of the season and the aim of this subscription to give you a much needed break from such things. The products inside are meant to help support your relationship with other as well as yourself. We all know that we are at our best when we take a little time to relax and rejuvenate.  I can 100% say that when I take a little time to relax I am better to everyone I come into contact with.

So pretty when you open it!

Affirmation

Evergreen Soap: Handcrafted and while it does say oily skin, it did not dry out my super dry skin. I mean it when I say that I have super dry skin and it did not feel bad after using this soap. I also did not put on products on purpose to test it on my arm. I care that much!

I love how they say to take in the scent of this and go over your affirmation. I really want to get into the practice of taking many little moments in the day to center and feel grateful in the moment.

I imagine the woods in Narnia smell like this soap!

Venus Body Butter: I loved the body butter from the last collection and so it does not surprise me that I love this one as well! This has a light feminine scent that has a hint of rose and ylang-ylang. Perfect for getting rid of that winter dry blah skin! I dig how a little goes a long way, and so I can be sure to keep my skin looking fresh until the next box arrives…

I am going to put this on and be the goddess of dewy skin!

Venus Body Exfoliator: I love exfoliating, it is like getting rid of all that dulls me and feeling super clean and fresh! They recommend to mentally list the reasons why you appreciate yourself and your body while you use this which is to me is a refreshing thought because I usually am busy thinking about how much I wish one part where softer or what I would like to change. The scent pairs perfectly with the body butter!

Can one of my reasons that I appreciate myself be that I can touch my thumb to my wrist?

Venus Mineral Bath: Again I am super excited to see such a pretty mineral bath! I love how handmade this looks. I mean yeah, the ingredients are top notch and will help soothe tired muscles and nerves, but the beautiful black and white looks so simple and chic!

It also matches my tuxedo cat!

Natural Lip Balm: I hate when my lips get that winter chapped look. Even in San Diego where it doesn’t get super cold, the mild use of heat dries out my lips something fierce. All the better if I can use a product like this that has simple ingredients that are natural and soothing!

They need to make a lip balm that stops me from saying dumb jokes to people in elevators…

Raven Tea Potion: While the name sounds like something an evil queen would give to a beautiful princess to get her out of the way, this tea is all good natural stuff. I am personally not a chamomile person at all. So I will have to get a taste tester on the case. I can say it smells good!

For the longest time I didn’t understand that I disliked the taste of chamomile and just thought I didn’t like tea…  Turns out keeping my mind open actually came in handy!

Honey Clay Facemask: YES!!! I love that this is for dry skin and is ideal for sensitive skin! Anything infused with honey is going to get my attention and so this is the perfect mask to pop on and relax in a bath with. Then it is almost like you get to be at a spa BUT also get to watch Netflix while relaxing if you want.

I really hope this will help with the epic pimple I have on my nose right now. It is as if my nose is growing its own nose. Sigh…

Ceder Smudge Stick: Smudge sticks are so fun! They can smell amazing and lets face it, they are fun to use. Basically you light it, and blow it out. it will smoke a bit and you can walk around the space you are looking to freshen up. Cedar is widely though of as a protective herb, which is perfect for when you want to take care of yourself and your space.

They have directions in order to clear energy, so perhaps after your in laws or that horrible person you friend is currently seeing leave, you can rid the house of their vibes!

Clear Quartz Pendulum: I have never seen one of these. They are incorporated into spiritual practice and meditations for personal fulfillment. There are actually a lot of fun activities you can use these for including asking questions! While I am not one to totally be into the tapping of energies in this manner, it is VERY useful in that to ask a question you have to actually think about whatever issue or subject you are dealing with. The very act of coming up with a question means that you are taking the time to think, and then formulate.

As an aside this is so pretty!!!

Maybe we should do a fun post were we all come up with questions and I will post the answers!

Verdict:  Merkaela has put together another thoughtful collection that challenges those who get it to take the time out to be a better version of themselves by being better to themselves. The products are all high quality and natural. They also go above and beyond with explaining ingredients on their blog, and also providing a play list to listen to while you enjoy their products. I love the packaging and honestly wish more subscriptions took the time to not only have a real purpose for their subscriptions but to actually put out quality boxes consistently. When open this subscription you really do feel like you have the tools to create a spa right in your own home, and even more  wonderful the tools to take small amounts of time to relax and focus on what is important!
