Amazon STEM Toy Club Subscription Box 3-4 Year Olds Review – June 2017

Box: Amazon STEM Toy Club Subscription

Contents:

Amazon STEM Club is a monthly program that delivers handpicked, high-quality Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math toys.

You can choose/order from three age groups: 3-4 year olds, 5-7 year olds, and 8-13 year olds.

There is some savings so far (as Amazon knows better than to piss off us seasoned subscribers). I checked some sites and this month’s box retailed for $36.49 via Amazon, and around the retail price between $36.49 and $39.99 elsewhere.

Pnut cares about deals for all 😉

Cost:

Each Amazon STEM Club Subscription costs $19.99/month plus applicable taxes. This subscription can be cancelled at any time via online.

Kick Back and Get Comfortable:

I choose to order the Amazon Stem Toy Club Subscription for 3-4 year olds since my girls are just under, at, and above that age group.

And because Amazon!

The spoiler was revealed to me when my order was preparing to be shipped.

I cancelled my shipment on April as the item was a drill (i.e., meant it could get in hair, was loud, not cute, too many pieces).

I cancelled my shipment on May. Even though I always wanted gears for my Pnut people, #4 was arriving soon and I did not want to deal with all.the.pieces. But eventually, I want to get a gear set for them and they enjoy playing with gears at play spaces. I am eyeing this as I think they would like it more!

For the month of June, We received the

Fisher-Price Think & Learn Code-a-pillar

Which requires and included 4 AA Batteries

Fisher-Price Think & Learn Code-a-pillar

So the month of June is an adorable caterpillar “Code-a-pillar” that gives an introduction of coding via cause and effect by arranging its direction/code (lights, noise, direction) segments.

I get my interested assistants, Pipsqueak, Squeakette, and Squeak, ready!

They are all hyped up in excitement!

As per Amazon, there is no special packaging indicating that the item is part of a monthly subscription it just arrives in a Amazon box.

Inspection cleared! Now let’s unbox and move to the living room! You do need lots of room on the floor though. If the Code-a-pillar gets stuck it prompt stops and flashes some lights and makes some noise.

This motivated my Pnut people to promptly clean up the living room floor!

Ummm… being real here we did not use the green and red disk thinges. They are supposed to tell the Code-a-pillar when to start and end, however the Code-a-pillar will just stop when it runs through its sequence.

The Code-a-pillar comes with 8 code segments that attach to each other with USBs.

Pipsqueak had tried to charge the Code-a-pillar using our apple/droid chargers lol!

There are add-ons if you wish to extend your caterpillar see here.

Sets of three are discounted around $9 and change (retails around $15). I am eyeing the Silly Sounds & Lights Pack.

Amazon has singles such as the left turn and right turn separately for less than $2 each and the move forward for less than $6 (but you have to have at least $25 total in your cart to add this on).

The older girls, Pipsqueak and Squeak, realized by the pictures what the toy would do next as it would light up at the sequence it was coded to do!

Cute noises and lights if you like cute music when playing those cute cell games. Perhaps more fun for the adults lol.

Squeakette was just amazed by the Code-a-pillar.

So easy to operate, even Squeakette could do it!

If one wants to continue the fun via an app, there is an app for that (sort of it does not connect with the Code-a-pillar) in both iOS and Android.

Just mazes and puzzles starring the Code-a-pillar.

Verdict:

This toy was exactly what I had in mind for a perfect STEM toy for my kids. It was easy to understand, not easy to break, not loud, not many parts to lose, and was supercute and educational to boot!

The girls look adorable in their dresses. The caterpillar looks like fun. I still haven’t been able to figure out how to preview the box before it ships.

Thanks Sub Bella and welcome back we missed your commentary!!!
You need to stalk your order tab starting around the 20th and it will eventually pop up giving you a little time to cancel the order before it ships.
The girls are still playing with it so it is a winner!
