Taco Bout It Tuesday: Stay-At-Home eased with Subscription Boxes

Hello!

*virtually waves and hugs you all*

Firstly, today is not Taco Tuesday. Tacos have been delayed until tomorrow.

Delays abound.

So despite being a Stay-At-Home mom I am now an assistant teacher of three school age children in our new Stay-At-Home world. The school district has given my girls a ton of online apps and activities.

If you want me to share some of the fun free ones just let me know.

Let me tell you that subscription boxes are my awesome sidekick! Along with my assistant Squeakette!

Thank you subscription boxes for being able to serve the housebound.

I have been using Imperfect and have been receiving a variety of fruit, veggies, eggs, milk, meat and seafood! They have some standbys and something new every week so there is no boredom.

Basically Imperfect is like a FabFitFun AddOn/Edit Sale with a smaller window and delivers weekly but its noms and not non-noms.

Even if you are a bit interested please know that Imperfect is on waitlist mode in some areas so it would be best to sign up now and await to see when you will be able to get your first box. I suggest picking the smallest Imperfect box so you start at a low price-point and so in case you miss your selection window to add/change your items you won’t be sticker shocked.

I have also been using Home Chef on and off depending on the menus that they have. I try to branch out with other meal service boxes but I prefer Home Chef they are very reliable and they have great customer service.

My Amazon Save and Subscribe sorta came through for me but they took off two boxes of diapers off my subscription list!

I had enough TP so it was not on the list for this month but I heard that they stopped those too!

Fortunately after some dust settled, the diaper boxes emerged and it took one call to customer service and they gladly gave me a discount equal to the save and subscribe discount.

Everything seems to be ok for next month. I got some backups just in case.

I will save the non-nom fun boxes for another review just wanted to give an update.

Thank you for the nudge Ake!

How are you!?!

HELLO! I am so glad you posted, and glad I checked! I finally subbed to Grove last week and used your link so hopefully you got a referral credit. They don’t have TP but it will save me a Target run for all my other needs. Trader Joe’s had TP when I was there but limit was one pack. I think my fam will be ok for a while because we had bought in bulk prior to this whole thing but we can only make it a few weeks. Why TP???

Both my husband and I are able to work from home so we are doing ok – walking dogs a lot and seeing lots of people not following the social distancing guidelines.

What are you doing for meals? I am doing lots of casseroles and trying to get two nights of meals. Tonight though we sat on the deck and ate tuna salad sandwiches. It was a good bonding time.

I look forward to seeing more posts as you obviously don’t have your hands full running a house plus being a teacher! Be well everyone!

      Hi Dayle!
      Thank you for commenting!
Thank you also for joining the Grove family! Onderria has tested the TP and she was ok with it but her husband thought otherwise! Trader Joe’s TP is good I like Cottenelle via Amazon and Aldi’s TP it is really soft! I have tried the Grove facial tissue and I am going to go back to Amazon’s Kleenex with Lotion (they used to have menthol one I think that was discontinued… it tingled). Grove had a ton of hand sanitizers but they sold out after everywhere sold out.
That is awesome and fortunate the two of you can work home. And the furbabies allowing you to go out. We live accross the street from a field and notice everyone keeping a safe distance from each other.
Home Chef would roll over their eyes if they knew what I did with their meals! For example, salmon is redic expensive now so I got the same salmon meal and only made their meal recipe once! With Imperfect, I always cut up the ripest fruit and make a fruit tray in the morning for snack grazing. That worked with exception of the blood red oranges
that the littles eat because the olders think there is actual blood in the oranges :/ Casseroles are always yummy you could always eat one part and freeze another part! Have you tried tuna melts? That is the way I eat my tuna sandwiches when I used to work the place we would order take out had that so I have been having my tuna sandwhiches that way. That way and in casseroles too!
      Stay safe too 🙂

I was going to do tuna melts but for some reason my family nixed that idea.

      Hope you all stay well!

Everyone seems to be cooking up a storm, but I have to admit that I’ve been taking advantage of being home all the time to *not* cook. Without my long commute there’s no need for weekly meal prep, and I just boil some pasta, or fry some eggs, or what have you. Doesn’t always make for the healthiest meals, but I’m glad to avoid long periods in the kitchen.

Pasta is my weakness!!! It’s so hard to find spaghetti and other shaped pastas other than elbows. The kids are picky to eat homemade pasta (like the way they treat Costco frozen pizza its like a coin toss). We usually have Pasta Mondays I make two boxes of different pasta and then refrigerate the leftover pasta in two separate bags to use during the week. Squeakette LOVES pesto (AKA green sauce).

I’m with Squeakette on the pesto!

It is nice that you are able to change things up.

Has anyone changed up their skin care routine? I had vowed to get rid of all my sample sizes, but I figured out why I stick to my regular routine. My skin likes the same stuff over and over – I need Oil! So while I am making an attempt to go through some of my sample stash, it isn’t happening very quickly.

        Stay well!

          Yes!

I actually was going to do a general review of Sunday Riely due to a hoarded subscription box stash of those products despite the review drama BUT in addition to the drama apparently they changed formulations on many of their products :/
Regardless, I think their best product is the CEO Serum. Runner up is the Luna Oil but its because it has retinol and there are a ton of other products out there that would work just as well.

As I plow through my Sunday Riley stash, sometimes I do a sample/foil AM or PM routine. I have been using more of my eye and face sheet masks.

Do you have FabFitFun? They had extended a third round of sales. I got the Honuoa(sp) oil because Marie raved about that brand but I only got one because its got ylang ylang and haven’t smelled the product before.

I am currently using Sunday Riley CEO day oil in the AM but I don’t think it sinks in enough to reccomend it. My favorite day oil was discontinued. Have you tried a sleeping mask at the end of a non-makeup routine (or before applying makeup)? What is your oil of choice?

I’m taking advantage of working from home in sheet masks! I don’t have time to do one every day before I jump on a call, but I get one in several days a week. I hope to emerge from all this with glowing skin.

Echoing Pnut here… definitely want to hear about your preferred oils. My skin needs both water and oil, so I always love ot hear recommendations.
