My favorite styling aid is…

Balanced Guru No Frizz Oil
Balanced Guru No Frizz Oil

I first learned about the Balanced Guru No Frizz Oil from the Summer 2014 Fab Fit Fun box. It wasn’t the most popular item because people found the scent to be off-putting. I tried it and was in a state of amazement. I have 2b/2c curly hair depending on what I do to it. The hair oil is all I need to have well-defined curls or waves. I tend to have curls if I wide tooth comb when it is soaking wet, waves if I comb it as it is drying. Nothing else is needed.

Balanced Guru offers 4 different types of hair oil. Buying Tip – The hair oil can be purchased at the Goodebox shop allowing you to accumulate Goodebox reward points. Hair oil works great for me because of my hair type. Gels do not work well in my hair.

Ok I got this same sub box as you did. I like it. It works. But the smell could be better. I may purchase only if my HG fails for me but so far it hasn’t.
What is HG for me is Miss Jessie’s quick curls that I received as a BB bonus with $35 purchase. It curls it holds it is scentless.
If I want some extra shine/gloss I use Oscar Blandi olio de jasmine … It has cones in it but I am in my third bottle if I find something healthier that does the job along my sub box adventures I will probably purchase that. It smells heavenly to me (jasmine).

I received Miss Jessie before in a swap package. It worked well. I think I may be receiving a Miss Jessie product in my Birchbox. The August Curlkit is all Miss Jessie’s products too. It’s a big month for Miss Jessie! I’ll have to look into the quick curls

I love the smell of jasmine 🙂

I just remember I got to try the Deva Curl foils from Beautyfix … Have you tried that line? Is there a Spoiler picture for the August Curlkit? If you can pull up a code and affiliate link I might be tempted not sure I am going to do the Deva Curl tonight … Thanks ;0:)

Subscriptionista sent me the Deva Curl foils! I haven’t tried them yet. August is still available according to Twitter. I noticed a 20% coupon pops up if you fill out your information and hesitate on subscribing. .

I’ll have to look back at the boxes and decide about the affiliate link. Best to sign up with the 20% coupon if you want the Miss Jessie’s box.

I checked my Birchbox reveal again. My Miss Jessie is Original Jelly Soft Curls.

            Hmmm… I had only 10 and 15 percent pop ups :/
I did sign up with 15 though and sent an email stating that I only wanted August for the Miss Jessie and to cancel further subs past August.
Thanks for the response as always 🙂

I got an email from Curlkit verifying that August will be my last box but I have not received it and my account shows no orders *sends email to cs* :/

            I hope they respond quickly.

After a second follow up they responded. Apologized for the delay and said that my box will be mailed the end of this week *fingers crossed*

            Crossing fingers too.

ugh! i can’t find mine from the FFF box and it’s been driving me nuts, thanks for reminding me 😛 i didn’t mind the smell, this was before i started reading subscription blogs though so i was unaware that it was offputting to some… i will conduct another search when i get home.

oh yeah, i have 2a hair

I think it is the sesame oil that bothers some. It isn’t a common scent in hair products. You need to find it! Your hair probably holds a style well.

It holds alright. i live in new orleans so the humidity is more often than not off the charts. here’s an example of my hair after having it pinned up all day 😛 https://instagram.com/p/1omI_viq61/

Pretty curls :). They look great and well-defined. We have lots of humidity here, but it’s cooler. Noting like New Orleans.

I love that cat picture! Very artistic – it should be made into a poster and I could hang it up on my wall.

I’ve been straightening my hair for so long… and it gets frizzy when I don’t (and when I do for that matter) that I’ve never been quite sure what type of curly I have! Some of the hair seems 2b and others are somewhat 3a – I still haven’t found a product to make it do exactly what I want.

    • August 12, 2015 at 2:46 pm

Heat7918 Does it take you forever? My sister’s hair is similar to yours. She has the same problem. The oils seem to help me with the frizz..

      • August 12, 2015 at 5:07 pm

Also, thank you for the picture compliment. It made me smile.

Yeah, it takes at least 20 minutes to blow dry my hair straight and then I still sometimes need to flat iron a little or use a big barrel curling iron to help smooth it out. Luckily I only need to wash every 2 to 3 days or so… I’ve recently gotten a couple of oils in sub boxes but no holy grail yet – I need to try yours!

        • August 13, 2015 at 10:17 am

You have a lot of patience although the results must be worth it!. I’m glad that my hair doesn’t need to look professional/styled anymore. I have a flat iron from a subscription box that I am afraid to try. Watch me fry my hair.

I didn’t know there were 4 types of oil. I’ve only ever received the one and I put it away for one of my besties. I have very fine hair and I love sea salt spray!

    • August 12, 2015 at 8:27 pm

Brandy! Thank you for commenting and the link for the ducky. I will be visiting your blog later tonight 🙂 I also tried the Style Me Oil from Balanced Guru. I still haven’t tried CurlKit. I may get there one day.

I have not tried sea salt spray. I always give mine away. I should try one if I receive a small tiny sample to see what it does with my hair.
