SugarBash Subscription Unboxing – January 2016

SugarBash is a lifestyle box that always is able to keep me on my toes! I decided to check this out because I found a coupon and it seemed sort of quirky. It was a risk but I figure it might be interesting to readers since it seems to be a smaller box company and not a lot of the huge review sites are giving it any play at the moment.

Cost: $30 month to month and less with a longer commitment.

Verdict: This subscription has had a lot of up and downs. I like that they have made the item card less busy and cheesy! This month was not as good as the past couple months. It could just be me, but I am so tired of seeing Tat2U in this box. I also feel like a lot of the stuff came off very…ummm… off brand so to speak. The gloves were kinda see through when I put them on and the jewelry was  not to my personal taste. Also while the makeup bag is actually really nice, it just sorta thrown in and somewhat boring. It felt like the last few months they had reached a terrific stride. This month? Was not a $30 value no matter what a card says. I am sure they are likely going to be pleased that this is my last box in my 6 month subscription…

Honestly, their curator has so much personality and there is a wonderful story behind this subscription. I think making this every other month and working to put together a quality box would really work for them. Really, it feels like a ton of talent is under pressure to fill a box, and it shouldn’t be that way.

Disclosure: No affiliate links, and I bought this with my own money.

It kinda looks like someone raided the dollar store for this box. A kinda nice dollar store, though…

So I was a little speechless. Then I read last month’s review and that box seemed awesome. Maybe just an off month? but still that necklace is so many kinds of wrong…

Yeah they had a good two months and some ok months. I felt like they were really going in a good directions. But this month was so thrown together and just unbranded to the point of “I wouldn’t spend $30 for this at all…” The perfume smells good I guess. I dunno. I feel bad because they actually read reviews but I can’t pretend this month was totally not great.

Well hopefully that means that next month’s box will rock! Remember the Ofra Serendipity by LLB box and this months? Those boxes did not compare to each other! *fingers crossed*

I hope so as well. Even if I won’t be renewing. I just have so many subscriptions and us being such an indie blog it would be difficult for me to go all in again lol It was fun, and totally a surprise every month which I put value in. I just… I just can’t shake the feeling of this box. You can’t even spin it.

What should I do with this necklace? I feel bad… it is… not to my personal taste… Should I save it for my sister in laws bday? ha!

      • January 21, 2016 at 4:18 am

Depends, how much do you hate your sister in law? Lol! Sorry, the necklace is very not my taste either so I couldn’t help myself.

HA! Well… that is a good question… I am glad I am not the only not feeling the necklace. Sometimes I don’t like things everyone else likes, and I wonder… why? What am I missing?

I suffer from the same. Although, since elementary school I realized I didn’t fit in so I wasn’t even going to try… so that led to a long period of not liking things that were popular, wearing weird clothes, getting made fun of for wearing weird clothes, then later donating those clothes because the fashions came in style! Also I think the ombre metal bracelet was my favorite item in the December Popsugar, but there are like 500 up for swap. Clearly I’m mental.

          • January 23, 2016 at 7:38 pm

I did not like the ombre until I wore it and it was totally great! I think because I thought it would not look good on my wrist… or maybe I was jealous of its shine… I won’t admit to anything

You know, I don’t like big chains or gold jewelry, so had it been all gold I probably wouldn’t have wanted it. But, I have a weak spot for ombre things. I would do my hair all sorts of crazy colors if it were straightish.
