If the theme to Superman is humming in your head, it’s ok. It is humming in my head too. Occasionally the Batman theme breaks in for a few bars. But like the old school Batman with Micheal Keaton (you know, the BEST Batman….)

Perfect February theme. It makes me think of one of my favorite songs by the band Tesla:

Warning: this video is filled with 80’s awesomeness.

The gal who started Beauty Hero’s has 15 years of experience working in spas. So the info card is packed with well, info! From product details to how to use, you will feel ed-ju-ma-cated.

Here they detail what makes this “hero” product and what the ingredients have to offer. Don’t you wish blind dates had these card to give out as well?

Beauty Counter is the featured company this month. I have had an amazing experience learning all about them this month. They have a huge data base on their website that offers info on 100’s of products used in beauty stuff. They also included in the box a pocket card that contains the “Never” list that Beauty Counter has created.

Do you how hard it is to find a Shampoo without Sodium Laureth Sulfate or Sodium Lauryl Sulfate? More on that coming soon in my Epic Quest series.

Ok so what was in the box already, sheesh!

20160212_113621-1Beauty Counter Body Oil in Rose Neroli (links to a similar oil)-Retail Value $78!
I have dry skin but live in a humid climate so body oils work great for me because it moisturizes and absorbs fully into the skin. Heavy lotions tend to cause me to breakout on my legs. Arn’t you glad to know that about me…. sorry TIM! Any-hoo, this stuff smells fancy!  It is derived from Tunisian neroli and organic rose otto from Bulgaria. My favorite part is that the scent does not knock you over. It says, hey, I’m fancy and I know it but I am fancy in that Kate Moss pout kinda way. The oil base is argan, jojba, marula, grapeseed and rosehip. It also contains seabuckhorn and meadowfoam oils (which btw I have no idea what those are but they sure are fun to say…)

The seabuckhorn frolicked in the meadowfoam for hours……

Sidekick Time! Recently Beauty Heros started offering a sidekick with their main Super Hero. Because every good super hero has a sidekick!

Beauty Counter Translucent Color Lip Sheer in Petite
The packaging on this lippy is heavy on the luxe. It feels like a beautiful accessory or that it doubles as a James Bond contraption. A little lip sheer and then BAM it’s a convertible. It goes on silky and is almost sheer. Here is a swatch:

Survey Says:
I have tried Beauty Heros back when they were called Spa Heros and loved it. I took a break only because I was in beauty product overload at that time. But now, we are reunited and it feels so good. It is a little more pricey then some of the other beauty boxes you will see but I really think it is worth it if you trying to avoid certain ingredients. This month for me was a home run. I love the oil and lip sheer and feel the value was outstanding. If you want to see two boxes from last year, here are my reviews from July 2015 and August 2015 (warning: this takes you back to my old home where I was sad and lonely)

This is like a luxe BeautyDNA! That is a luxurious lippy you got there girl!

This is a happy home to call your own. Where we are lighthearted and even though constipated as we age, we release gas with some sort of humor and klass attached.

Alba Botanica has a line of shampoos and conditioners (their Hawaiian line!) that don’t have sodium lauryl or laureth sulfate in them. I’m not sure if all of the ingredients fit the bill for what you’re looking for, but it’s worth a peek if you haven’t look into them before.
“No: Animal Testing, Artificial Colors, Parabens, Phthalates, Sodium Lauryl / Laureth Sulfate or Sodium Myreth Sulfate.”

I am going to have try them!! A am working on shampoo quest little by little. It is such a rabbit hole though because there are so many synthetic ingredients in everything. Even the stuff marketed as natural and organic! One big area that they sneak stuff in is the stabilizers/preservatives.

Pacifica just released a line of hair products! I can’t find them on the Pacifica website, but Ulta has them on their site. I’m intrigued (and excited!) because it looks like most the the products are safe for color treated hair!
