Subscription: Birchbox

Cost:

Monthly $10.00

Yearly: $110.00 (you get one month free)!

What To Expect:

At least 5 items allegedly based on a profile. Sometimes you get lucky and can get 6 or 7 items.

Sit Down and Get Comfortable:

This curated box is themed “Rise and Shine”!

Translation: I call it “shower and giggles”. Read on…

Here is the box. I like it. Reminds me of some sophisticated youngster’s water paint project. More for storing stuff for my Pnut people rather than me so it will be an easy box to spot.

So this box came at a fortunate time. I needed to shower after gardening. I actually used four of the five products.

Dr. Brandt Poredermabrasion

Dr. Brandt Poredermabrasion – I cannot believe it took me this long to get this in my paws! I always wanted to sample this to compare it to the discontinued Dr. Brandt Microdermobrasion In A Jar. I started my shower and used this first. Sadly it just has more fillers so the gritty stuff is not as gritty. I still liked it but would not purchase it as Vasanti’s facial scrub has more grit.

I like my scrubs gritty.

Living Proof No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream

Living Proof No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream – Well I thought this trifecta (the Cream came with matching shampoo and conditioner foils) would solve all my frizzy hair problems. The shampoo and conditioner felt nice applying and washing off and I had high hopes that the treatment would be enhanced by using the same line’s shampoo and conditioner set.

I ended up with perfect curls with a touch of protective frizz flyaway on each curl. I applied some hair gel to have the rebellious  frizz attach itself to my curls.

Why can I have Living Proof spokesman Jennifer Aniston’s hair?

Klorane Smoothing and Relaxing Patches with Soothing Cornflower

Klorane Smoothing and Relaxing Patches with Soothing Cornflower – After my shower I applied these whilst applying subscription box moisturizers to my face and body. These were soft cornflower colored stickers with a gel underlay. No freeform serum or liquid mingling with these eye patches. They stuck on well and I felt relaxed, soothed, and pampered. I did not take a close up look to see if there was any smoothness going on but my under eyes did feel smoothed.

These patches smooth, relax, and soothe. It says right there in the packaging! See I read and use all the words! Marketing Departments LOVE me!

MILK Sunshine Oil

MILK Sunshine Oil – I tested this out in a past Sephora Play! but it was in a cute tiny pouch. This bad boy is a rollerball of sunshine goodness! It actually smells of sunshine. I have put this it in my diaper bag and took out a full sized oil rollerball since this will save me an ounce or something from my diaper bag that weighs a ton or something.

Sunshine comes in rollerball form. MILK. It does a body good 😉

IT’S SO B!G By Elizabeth Mott-

IT’S SO B!G By Elizabeth Mott – And this is the giggle part. It’s NOT So B!G! I am going to keep this in my mascara stash and I will never use it. Or it will be the last mascara to be used if I ever run out of mascara because IT’S SO B!G! It is to be used solely for giggling/conversation purposes. Hopefully I can whip it out for the ultimate weird convo if the opportunity presents itself.

This mascara is a like a tiny fur baby that thinks it’s a giant fur baby!

Birchbox Subscription Curated Box Review (Rise and Shine) – July 2016

Verdict:

Always loving spoilers, this curated box delivered. Only not in the “Rise and Shine” but almost there like “All Shiny And New After A Grimy Gardening Episode” by using four out of the five samples in one shot.

I love the Dr Brandt! I have another version that is all spendy and is in a black tube that I got as a nice bday gift. I love the smell and the fine grit but the price…goodness meeeee. If anyone has a good dupe I will write them a small poem hahah but the scent with the small grit is perfect for my skin.

Pnut, next time I am putting a box together please remind me to send you ALL the Vasanti k?

Thanks you are so sweet but I need to ask why you didn’t like the Vasanti I see it as a dupe. But its been awhile since using it maybe the grits were a tad larger and than Dr. Brandt now I think of it…

I don’t think it has the same smell. With your permission I will open just one and see if it is or not. I used it awhile back lol I have a big Dr Brandt still but the scent and the fine sand is what makes me a huge fan. It REALLY does work for my skin. But I can’t leave it on too long because it kinda burns which is concerning but I will overlook that.

        • July 17, 2016 at 7:24 pm

Hmmm I found them both scentless or neutral! I also overlook the burning if it works too lol.

I got this box too! It’s a good one. What do you think of the smell of Living Proof stuff? I don’t hate it but don’t really like it much either – luckily it isn’t too strong and doesn’t linger much.

    • July 16, 2016 at 1:07 pm

Right on Heat! The scent was ok I did not recall much about it it was kinda neutral….
