Jacob’s Crate Subscription Review – August 2016

Jacob’s Crate is a subscription for cat’s that have grown tired of just having the cast off cardboard of our hooman subscriptions… No, this is for the cat that wants the stuff inside to be for them as well! Which, honestly is something I can jive with given my kitty Sophia von Bearcat de Coronado’s love for chewing on everything, including items that are not for her. It is always in my best interest to keep my little house lion habitat filled with things that keep her busy and out of trouble!

The story behind Jacob’s Crate is a sweet one. The founder Travis was basically adopted by Jacob (my words, not his but cats really do adopt hoomans it is a fact), and in the toughest times Jacob provided a love that could not be matched. They became Social Media darlings (@jacobscrate), and the rest is history!

Cost: $21.95 per month for 4-6 meowtastic items!

 

 

 

The box! Yay!!!!

 

I know what you ladies are thinking… “Wow, that is a nice looking cat!”

Me too… Me. Too.

Wait what were we talking about again? Oh right!

Actually I am jealous of anyone who can pull off the shoulder kitty pose with their cat. I wanted to attempt this but I would have to heft Sophia von Bearcat de Coronado on to my shoulder and wait for the vicious attack that would be sure to follow. I mean she wakes me up sometimes by trying to eat my hair! She is not to be trifled with.

 

 

Temptations (Ocean Flavor): These treats are straight kitty delights. Yet, my kitty who was found beneath a bush at an apartment building will not eat them with gusto. I have already tried. In the past I have had the most wonderful cats purr with delight when they heard the bag crinkle and knew these would be in their little tummies! Sophia is very picky and so I have to give these away.

My kitty is a little tubby so she should stay away from treats anyway…

 

Cosmic Catnip – Catnip Supernova: And just like that Champagne Supernova is in my head and not likely to leave it for like a week. While not my favorite song, this toy has the right stuff to be Sophia’s favorite plaything! It has all the makings of a great toy. Catnip? Check. Chewable? Check. Strings to attack? Check!

This is supposed to be the “”best catnip in the universe” which makes me wonder what type of catnip they have on Mars…

Petstages – Madcap: I am glad that this has catnip, I am not glad this looks like it crawled out of my most sorted of dreams. This little character is creepy, and energetically so. My cat will attack the heck out of this thing and send it back to the hell from whence it came.

Seriously I pulled this thing out and felt a cold chill…

 

Fat Cat – Fabulous Las Vegas Showgulls: I really am digging this toy for Sophia because she loves different textures and materials to destroy. If she were rich she would send away for the most exotic and sumptuous materials to tear up. She would be referred as “Sophia von Bearcat de Coronado The Destroyer”

I didn’t know birds had lips… only in Las Vegas! 

 

Maui Meowi – Karrots: Finally a way to get my pudgy little kitty to taste interest in her veggies! This is a super cute little toy that she will love carrying around and playing with while laying on her back. They make the catnip filling seem like they are selling weed. It’s human grade and “pure” with “flowers” and “buds.” I won’t tell my kitty about any of that though.

What is the deal with the kitty on the label? It is such an odd choice to me! 

 

Little toy: This did not come with a label and I am pressed for time to find it. Anyway, this is a cute little hot dog plushie that my cat will loose her mind over and likely tear up in a few hours.

Sorry little pup pup my kitty is going to mess you up! 

Give me the box!!!

Sophia has been really hard to capture… I will keep trying to get her mid play with the items and put them in a Caturday post!

Verdict: Jacob’s Crate shows a lot of promise and my kitty really enjoyed all the toys in it. It is usually a huge win if she is into a couple items so overall this was a winner! I am glad that the products all had different textures and lots of catnip. While not every kitty is into the nip, those that are will really dig this box. My kitty was all over the box before I could even open it for pictures! The background story of this subscription in compelling as is the fact that they donate to Charity. I hope to see more and hopefully they keep up the good work!
