My favorite candle is …

PaddyWax Sea Salt & Surf Soy Candle
PaddyWax Sea Salt & Surf Soy Candle

I don’t know if I can fully narrow it down to one scent. Any Paddywax candle with sea salt will do for me. I was first introduced to the sea salt scent in the PopSugar August 2014 box. which was an amazing box. I received the Paddywax Ocean Tide & Sea Salt Mini Candle, which came in an adorable blue jar. That was the same box that had the Kendra Scott Necklace or Earrings.

My current sea salt candle came in the Modavanti Limited Edition Vegan Box.  Click here to see available Modavanti Boxes. You may need to scroll down to the second row to see them.

The Made-in -the-USA Paddywax Sea Salt & Surf Little Happy Candle has a cotton wick and a delightful sea salt scent. I will be burning this today because I need a little happiness in my life after yesterday. Paddywax has quotes on the top of their boxes. The quote for this one is, “I require only three things of a man. He must be handsome, ruthless, and stupid” – Dorthy Parker.  I’m not sure how a man can be ruthless and stupid, but I am not going to argue with Dorothy Parker.

    Oh yea great post!
You know I love the ocean as well. I love it when we get a wood wick candle in a sub box. I will use any candle happily from a sub box but what I buy now are those candles that have pure essential oils and can apply to body. Now that the weeist one has arrived, I usually just light candles in the bathroom. If I light anything anywhere else now it is once in awhile and it is always one of the pure essential oil ones.
I am not sure whether I have have an HG brand of candle, just more of a preference of what I stated above. The brands that I have bought recently are Soy Delicious and Objects With Purpose.
I really love Aloha Bay candles I find the palm was very beautiful, but they do not have good throw or burn well.

Congratulations on the newest wee one! I will use any candle from a sub box too. I love the crackle from a wood wick candle. I want to try a lotion candle! I have a massage candle, but my husband doesn’t believe me when I tell him it should not hurt.

I checked out all the candle companies listed. They look great. I think Subscriptionista should set up a static (is that the name?) page on companies that are readers recommend.

Only if there is copious amounts of typos… Though keeping up a page that was updated would be sorta tiresome lol like maybe if we put some cat pics in… That would make it fun!

        Thanks again 🙂
I think lotion/massage candle is the same? Maybe depending on the marketing angle, but I am sure they are the same. I only use them if I do for my cuticles most of the time they are burning is for the scent. I dip or use a spoon that comes with Soy Delicious. Maybe it would burn if poured :/
Huh… Now that I read this I have no clue why Soy Delicious is called that all the fragrances that I have chosen would be absolutely horrid if ingested.

I always forget to light candles! I don’t know why, but even when they’re sitting out in the middle of the room, I just never think to light them. Which is weird b/c I LOVE a really good smelling candle.

What is the difference between a soy candle and regular? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a wood wick? Do they burn differently?

I go 100% based on smell. I LOVE mint especially spearmint or eucalyptus mint… I also recently found out (mostly thanks to Flicker Box) that I love a lot of floral scents: jasmine, lilac, gardenia… rose too, if it’s done right. And I bought a tulip candle from Kohls that smells good. The tricky part though is how they smell when burning. Some smell great in the jar but not as much when lit. Or theirs hardly any smell when you light it. 🙁 It’s rare for a candle I’ve tried to be too strong of scent when lit, but that’s bad too. It’s a fine line!

I will answer your second question because it is easier. Google wood wick candles they are a brand of candles that only use wood wicks. The wicks make a cracklimg sound when lit.
The first question is a hot topic and I suggest you do your own research and see if it means that much to you, basically soy candle makers discourage use of traditional paraffin candles for x, y, z reasons. And if you look at aloha bay candle they use palm wax and are anti-soy.
I really do not have that much opinion on the matter but as long as the wicks do not have lead, I am cool with lighting any candle for the most part.

Thank you Pnut! I will research that bc now I’m really curious what the reasons are against paraffin or even soy. The wood wick sounds cool – I might have to buy one just for the sound.

YW … I usually buy Woodwick on occasion at Cracker Barrel. If you have one near you, also try their Buckeyes (yum)!
There was a wood wick candle in MSA01 but the crackle was not good as Woodwick. I forgot the brand of that candle.

My teenager and I were discussing candles today. He was wondering the same thing I thought the main difference was that soy burns cleaner. I am going to read more about it. . I like wood wick candles because they crackle while burning. It’s a pleasant sound.

Pnut, thank you for sharing. I love learning and need to learn more about question 1.

YW … The learning will also open another Pandora’s box on fragrances. Speaking of … Sub Bella check out Nest’s Ocean something candles I bought a large and small one way back when as a treat and I reused the empty votives to hold makeup brushes, liners, makeup stuff.

Everything causes cancer 😛 If I die tomorrow for a sudden reason, I would have a happy tummy and relaxed attitude due to occasional candle lighting.

I have the Nest Ocean Mist & Sea Salt lotion from a Burke Decor Spa box. I love the scent. I’ll have to check out the candle.

I pick and choose and hope for the best. That’s all I can do in the end because there is so many toxins in our environment.

I just ran across information on Beeswax candles! Apparently they’re more expensive but that’s because they can allegedly purify the air and help with allergies & asthma.
