Because I really loved my December Uppercase box, Subista surprised me with the February box! I was super excited to try another month of it. Though, for sure I got this last month and then… life happened.

This package arrived in a flat rate padded envelope, so clearly there weren’t candles or mugs or kitties inside.

As promised, there is a book [and this time it came signed!], 2 bookish items, reading experience/contents, and a handwritten note.

Starflight by Melissa Landers [2016]: $10.58 on Amazon with 4.5 stars, and 3.99 stars on Goodreads.

Wow, this was just published at the beginning of February! That’s pretty durn new, and there’s a sequel, Starfall, set to publish in 2017.

Description from Goodreads:

Life in the outer realm is a lawless, dirty, hard existence, and Solara Brooks is hungry for it. Just out of the orphanage, she needs a fresh start in a place where nobody cares about the engine grease beneath her fingernails or the felony tattoos across her knuckles. She’s so desperate to reach the realm that she’s willing to indenture herself to Doran Spaulding, the rich and popular quarterback who made her life miserable all through high school, in exchange for passage aboard the spaceliner Zenith.

When a twist of fate lands them instead on the Banshee, a vessel of dubious repute, Doran learns he’s been framed on Earth for conspiracy. As he pursues a set of mysterious coordinates rumored to hold the key to clearing his name, he and Solara must get past their enmity to work together and evade those out for their arrest. Life on the Banshee may be tumultuous, but as Solara and Doran are forced to question everything they once believed about their world—and each other—the ship becomes home, and the eccentric crew family. But what Solara and Doran discover on the mysterious Planet X has the power to not only alter their lives, but the existence of everyone in the universe…

Anne of Green Gables Infinity Scarf

I couldn’t find this online, but similarish items vary from $20-50. I want to like this scarf, I just wish the font was something scrawly and cursive. I have a friend who might enjoy this scarf, so I will pass it along.

Starflight Nail Wraps

The company that made these seems to do custom nail wraps, which is kinda neat.

Should we do Subscriptionista nail wraps? I think they’d have glitter, cat hair, and sand pre-stuck to them. Hmmm… this would go well in our faux sub box that is rumored to contain boxed wine and Cheetos!

Verdict: This was a neat box, and I was pretty jazzed Subista picked this one to send me! I do think the curator does a great job with this subscription, and while I might be sharing some of my items, I will at least still enjoy the books!

As a teen I would luuurve this! So, I sent the poster and nail wraps to my cousin’s tweenage daughter, along with a lot of other fandom items [and then gave my cousin some subscription box recommendations, of course].

The book I am looking forward to reading! I’m not a big scifi reader, but I grew up watching scifi stuff with my dad [I was probably 4 when he showed me Aliens], and I like low fantasy as well. I decided not to continue subbing [only for now] because I need to save money for all the vacations I ended up getting planned into this year, plus I’m way too busy with school to read much right now =\ Too bad Mailbox Junkie’s budget posts don’t come with assistance.

We shall meet again very soon, Uppercase!!

What do you think about the book? Have you read it or would you like to? Let us know!

I just finished reading this book and enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. It was definitely obvious what direction the story was going to take with the two lead characters but it was a fun journey to get them there. I really like this box and have enjoyed the books. (I finished Truthwitch last week and thought that was really fun too.)

I think I might read the Bronte sister book next [from OwlCrate] after I finish Dumplin, then this one. I’m glad you liked it!! I’m dubious of the new OwlCrate book though. Seems a bit too serious for me.

I just started that one. I’m only a few chapters in but so far it isn’t really my style but I think it may grow on me. I finished Forever Watch (can’t remember where it came from) and liked it. It is essentially a post-a book but more adult than YA and a nice twist on it (not a spoiler – it is set in space).
