Sunday Morning Coffee Talk-Friends

I am rapidly approaching 35……sigh.

Have you ever noticed when you hit a certain age that making friends is a little like dating was in your 20’s.

Like you meet a mom at the park and think to yourself…hmm she is pretty cool. Should I ask for her number? Is that too forward? Will she think I am weird?

This week I had my first friend date with………………………………………………

Onderria!!!!

puppies

She is as beautiful as I expected!!

She was wearing the hat from Little Lace Box last summer and I was wearing my Kendra Scott Earrings from PSMH 2014

I wish we lived closer. She is all kinds of cool and I wished we could have had all day to talk! I even got to meet McBoyfriend (he is super cool too).

Anyway on this Sunday Morning coffee talk…

Have any funny friend stories? Awkward encounters? Prefer your pets to people (I usually do-ha!)

Ok and most importantly…Do you have friends that love sub boxes (aside from us…hehe)?

No one I know in real life likes them as much as me….:(

I need to know the back story on those furry pups! I love the slippers in the background they remind me of my filipino uncles!

I am so happy you and Onderria met up! I find it as I get older, my closest friends are mothers that are non-judgey and supportive of doing whatever it takes to prevent meltdowns at both the wee and adult levels. So those ladies and my Subista sisters are my truest bestest friends!

My friends all have interest in sub boxes and like a good Pnut, I tell them whether the boxes they have in mind have codes lol.

That is exciting that you and Onderiaa met up! So cool.

Yes, making friends can be like that for me! I was laughing when reading that and can totally relate.

The kids are making it easier but still….how do you come off not like a stalker at the park when saying, “hey wanna hang out some time?!”

I moved away in my late 20s and it is so hard to make new friends. Most of my friends are still back home. Everyone said it would be easier when I became a mom, but I haven’t found that to be the case. I don’t have time to friend date!

Other than a coworker that gets Birchbox, I don’t know anyone in real life that gets sub boxes. Though several people in my building get food boxes. And one person in my building gets a lot of subs (clothes and beauty mostly). If I ever run into her in the mailroom, I’m totally going to try and make a new friend!

ya I have had a hard time with mom friends. Mostly because I am the hot mess mom and the hot mess mom makes people nervous! Plus the hot mess mom doesn’t take herself or her kids too seriously and a lot of moms take themselves and their offspring very very seriously…….

OMG MJ we would be besties if I lived in paradise with you! Try approaching moms with multiple kids I think you best categorize us as “hot mess” lol

Um Pnut we would probably see each other every day if you lived in paradise!!!

          • May 15, 2016 at 10:31 pm

            Totally!

Artemis I’m the same. I moved straight out to the west coast from the Midwest after college, and literally every friend I’ve made here has moved to California, including my sister. The other people I’ve met here are just flaky and don’t want to drive, or leave the house, or have a sense of humor. Boo.

I guess that’s the nice thing about the internet is that I can make online friends and keep in touch with friends who moved across the country.

I am such a loner…I have friends at work and lifelong childhood friends, but I’m not big on going out or anything, so I don’t usually find myself with people! We don’t have children either, so no mom play dates for me. Honestly though, I need to be alone to recharge, so I’m good with being a homebody.

The only people I know who get sub boxes in real life are my students, haha! Several of my senior students get Ipsy, a few get Lootcrate, and some get snack boxes. Beyond that, unless I gifted someone a subscription, I am the only one I know who gets boxes. How do these non-box people live?

    • May 15, 2016 at 5:58 pm

Erin it’s like cell phones how coud anyone live without sub boxes!!!

    • May 15, 2016 at 10:01 pm

Me and hubby are total home bodies! Well we do leave the house but hand out mostly with each other. That is how I knew I could marry him because I never got tired of being with him. Ya, a lot of my friends at crossfit just laugh at my sub box habit…and I just look at them in disbelief! Like how could anyone not love them?!?!

I sense a good Sunday Coffee Talk discussion “Why our friends are crazy for not jumping on the subscription box wagon!”

That way we can re-direct our friends to that post when they give us this I-am-not-sure-about-all-these-boxes-look so everyone can chime in and say-look-you-are-missing-out!
