Taco Bout It Tuesday: Post-Thanksgiving Hauls

The big thing about me doing this post (and not Onderria) is that I don’t see the tallied up truth of my spending 😉

My December credit card statement will be quivering.

Well surprise for me that this year my money did not goto PopSugar.

But I still have PopSugar monthly withdrawals.

It went to Birchbox.

Guess who is an ACE now?

I think I like the privilege of choosing my items and extra perks. Which explains my recent year subs into FabFitFun and Birhbox.

And those sub box sales get my wallet everytime.

So I am excited after my hard two year Birchbox monthly hiatus to be back!

I have an addiction to samples from my GWP days.

I hope to attempt to review all 12 Birchbox boxes and plan to have a special clear “gifting” bag just to put items specifically from this subscription that I have no intention to sample in order to see whether I am able to “gift” or just “hoard” them.

Like a hoarder giving a confession, I will reveal said clear “gifting” bag with my reviews to see its progression.

I have to admit, the codes this year were pretty good. Definitely an improvement after the last two years.

So I am digressing because I am avoiding a confession.

This is what I admit to code purchasing:

A year of Birchbox and a whole lot of sale stuff to reach ACE status because after the year sub, I was really close to hitting ACE (due to those awesome sales Birchbox has) and that recent 30-45% stackable sale really reeled me in.

A $60 FabFitFun gift card that came with an extra $10 add on credit and Kate Exfoliate because I too have a scrubbie addiction. And an FFF Edit/AddOn sale addiction too.

Pralines. This was hard. We went to South Carolina for Thanksgiving and part of that trip involved pralines from a brief visit to Savannah, GA. There was a Cyber Monday code for these clusters of goodness. I really fought the urge to buy as each Cyber Monday hour past by. But the unhealthy sugar from heaven won in the end. A big factor is that none of the Squeakers cared for it and my husband would take a nibble so I would not really have to share.

Random Amazon and Walmart online specials mostly for my Pnut people.

What I almost bought with codes but was strong and did not:

Box of Style, PopSugar, Oui Please and Glossybox. All these boxes are nice and the codes were sooooo tempting but I was not in love enough to part with my clams over it.

PopSugar’s Saturday Sale. That is because I ALWAYS keep missing it and when I finally went online I could not get my first (available) item to go in my cart. I am not going to work that hard to lose my money.

Bath and Body Works. Again with the code not working on that Purchase with Purchase. Not worth my time. But I plan on picking up some candles when that huge candle sale comes along.

What I would have bought with a code if I did not have it:

Pusheen hands down especially since they never do codes. My brother gets me this subscription for my Squeakers so I would have been all over this.

What did you buy (or are willing to confess that you bought)?

Spill below the deets or anything random.

I didn’t get any sub boxes, but I got some clothes for mahself!

    – 2 shirts: buy 1 get 1 FREE from Tag Online Boutique
    – 2 shirts and a jacket: 40% off from All the Pretty Pieces
    – 3 free pairs of underwear, several pairs of yoga pants, and some bras: I placed two separate orders from Victoria’s Secret so I could use 4 coupons I got in the mail. You can use up to 3 coupon codes per order so I ordered some sale/clearance items in two different sizes and I’ll return what doesn’t fit to the store.

I’m always envious of your Pusheen Box reviews. They always send the most adorable, yet useful things! I’d totally buy it for myself if I had extra clams and I’d rock the t-shirts they like to include.

I’ve been throwing away Bath & Body Works coupons when I get them in the mail because I try to only buy cruelty free. I’ll send em your way next time I get some!

      Yea for new clothes!

I always call to make sure I don’t get bi-weekly VS catalogs as I found myself wanting to buy more. I love their yoga pants for non-athletic activities.

If you have coupons with “the good” online codes could you picture the code and email it as an attachment? I rarely go in store. I only get hand sanitizers and candles from there and usually re-gift the $10 freebie item if I get an email coupon.

      Thanks LC! 🙂

        You got it!

Thanks! Whenever able no worries I still get the emails but no mailers. I think my next puchase will be at the Semi-Annual for any sparkly hand sanitizers. They have to be the ones with sparkles lol.

No Black Friday or cyber Monday box subs for me. I came so close to getting the PS Neiman Marcus because my daughter wants a curling iron, but it sold out before I was ready to commit. I actually would have been happy with the box I think. I hate to admit that I hit Sephora Rouge status way too early this year on top of my “healthy” skin care I don’t buy at Sephora, so I really need to check myself, I do blame some of it on having a 15 year old girl that loves to sparkle ❇️ . I did drop a good bit of cash at Nordstrom Friday and got some Lulu Lemon stuff at a great price too.

Where did you go in SC? We used to make an annual trek but not going to make it in 2018. Boo! My husband is from there and I have family there as well. We will be near Charleston for spring break though.

    Happy holidays to everyone!

Started in Savannah since its 30 minutes from a family friend in Blufton(sp)?, then brief stop in Charleston to head to Myrtle Beach. Brrrrr… not as cold as Chi. Had Turkey with family near there then headed to Greenville for a wedding reception then headed home but stayed overnight in Louisville because of Bruce.
My Sephora purchases are always/usually in the holidays because of Black Friday in November and the $15ish coupon in December. I did not see anything this year at Sephora’s Black Friday but already made another purchase with my new 30% ACE holiday discount stacked with sale items at Birchbox :/
I wouldn’t reccomend that curling iron because it is clamp-free but kudos for them to include a hand mitt although any curling iron should include a hand mitt!
Oh my goodness I forsee sparkling forever in my future lol!

I think I admitted to Pnut [in a post-hospital-drug-induced-state] about how much I spent… but… I bought A LOT of boxes in Oct/Nov… to the point where today I opened two Beauty Fix, Discover the Deal, two Grove Cos, Enjoy Leggings [which I don’t think I’ll ever enjoy], and a few more, and that’s when I got tired of opening stuff. I honestly stashed it all away when they would come so el husbandito wouldn’t judge me… BUT I made piles of keep, swap, sell, gift, and my pile was the smallest [which definitely shows me I need to not sub to any of these boxes long term!].

However, I did not sub to anything from Better Than to Black Friday through Cyber Monday. I just wasn’t wowed enough. Also, I was no longer on crazy meds that caused me to loosen my credit card strings so freely!

You left out the drug induced state comment lol.

Man I remembered now the soy lotion candles I bought on GMA Deals that cyber week. Double BeautyFix was a good call it was a good month sequence. Because I got a few GMA Deals boxes, I passed because there was ton was repeats in their boxes and I did not need the extra repeats. Grove Co is always a good choice (motivation for cleaning). I get my leggings from the Amazon with the highest ratings. Oh speaking of the Amazon I got lucky and got $1 ladies and men luxury boxes but seriously they are really worth $1 they were sooooo much better when they started out.

The only sub box company I bought from was Birchbox, but I placed several orders with them. I was especially pleased to get two drones in the 50% off sale with that awesome GWB that included a S’well bottle. The drones are for presents, but now I kind of want one for myself!

I also made purchases from some of the companies I’ve learned about from subs: Gorjana, Sudara, and Sugarfina. Everyone I know is obsessed with Sugarfina champagne gummy bears, and it all started with the short-lived L’Occi Box.

I feel a little sad that all the crazy sales are finished. It was fun to go a bit crazy!

Oh! And I’m looking forward to reading your Birchbox reviews! I miss being an Ace and will live the Ace life vicariously through you.

      • December 3, 2018 at 11:18 am

        Thanks Ake!
It was seriously one sale order leading to another sale order then cyber week deals seeing that I was not that far away from ACE status. Although I had to stock up on gifts because with the stacked discounts it was harder to reach the amount. I did not see the drone item but that seems awesome (and random) that it included a Swell bottle!
Mmmmm… that was a good L’occi box. Sugarfina should have another mystery sale right after christmas….

    • December 3, 2018 at 2:15 pm

I just got a gorgeous Gorjana necklace from poshmark, and I love it! Also, Nordstrom has the Sugarfina gummies in green juice, Corona, Tito’s vodka, and tequila.

I’m lucky enough to have a Sugarfina shop in my city, and they had a BOGO sale on large cubes for Black Friday. Last year they had 3 for $10 small holiday cubes in the new year, but I think they’ve got a better grasp on demand now because I haven’t seen any bargain post-holiday sales recently.
