Bare Bliss Box is a subscription that sends out organic and natural beauty products. I signed up through GILT for what I thought was an an amazing deal.
When I signed up for the offer I thought it would be a great way to try Bare Bliss Box. While I am not totally unhappy with the box itself I question the bait and switch tactics. The fact that we do not get the same box as regular subscribers and were never told this, coupled with the fact that I got my box very late makes me an unhappy box enthusiast.
Alright on to the Bare Bliss Box review:
Pura Bela Deodorant:
Handmade deodorant made me worry that this would tickle when I put it on. Would I be able to feel the hands through some sort of cosmic vibration? Nope. Though it did feel a little weird to put this stuff on with my own hands since I am used to the whole applicator style type. It is natural and the ingredients can be pronounced without worry of offending any of those scientist friends of yours that you are always trying to impress. Overall it worked well but I did not put it to a super test at the gym or anything like that. It is the weekend after all and I am tired from opening so many boxes that a trip to the gym just doesn’t make any sense.
My Value: Applying this keeps from smelling like a gym sock and allows me to check how well my razor is working!
Iwi Fresh Body Oil Spray: I decided that reading the descriptions was for ‘chumps’ and sprayed this on to my face thinking it was a toner. Imagine my surprise when I realized that I had just sprayed my whole face with luxurious body oil! It got all into my nose and mouth, thank goodness it is natural right?!? The scent is Zesty Lime, which sounds like hot sauce on a margarita. This smelled a little more musky and I actually really like it. I am of the dry skinned variety of human and am glad something from the garden can work well enough to hydrate me, but be natural enough where my face didn’t freak out from my mishap.
My Value: Finally a cure for dry mouth and dry knees!
True Beauty Brooklyn 100% Organic Body Moisturizer with Lavender: Funny story, this melted in my car. That isn’t a funny story? I know, I just really like you and wanted your attention. Anyway I feel that a ton of these more natural type companies feel they must use lavender in something. I am lucky and I like it, but the more I read of other peoples likes and dislikes, the more I have learned that lavender is a really polarizing ingredient. Anyway they say you can use this on your hair, lips, and skin. I feel like for a product that can be used for so many things the sample was super small. Like you could use it for all this stuff, but we aren’t going to let you.
My Value: In the description is says I will “love stepping out of the shower” to use this which is really something considering I am always trying to make sure I don’t step on any errant stray litter my cat somehow tracks right where I like to towel off…
Elegant Rose – Rosemary Nettle Shampoo Bar: This smells so good! I have to be honest I was VERY dubious about trying anything on my body that had the word nettle in it. Nettles are awful and bring up memories of me as a child kayaking with my dad. One time my kayak got stuck and my mom yelled out, “Grab the plant and pull free!” Just as I reached and grabbed it my dad yelled “Oh God no, don’t grab that damn plant!” Too late. My hand felt like it was on fire and bubbled up something fierce.
And that was the time I shook hands with a nettle plant.
My Value: Finally I can get past just shaking hands with that saucy little nettle plant! We are now showering together!
Final Verdict: I feel all conflicted still about this company and by the time the next box reaches my door I hope my trust issues are worked out. It was solid and at the $13 a month they charge (if you get a 6 month sub) it is a great value. I just have a hard time letting stuff go because I am not only a jerk, I play one of this blog.
