Disclosure: I paid for this box because my son is a broke 16-year-old. There are no affiliate links.
Loot Crate announced a mystery crate and t-shirt sale on August 26th. I haven’t been ordering LootCrate much in the past year and decided to purchase one of each for my 16 year old. Subscriptionista has set us a few Loot Crate shirts which he appreciates! The t-shirt shipped on 8/31 and arrived on 9/1. The crate shipped on 8/28 and may arrive on 9/8. I don’t understand FedEx Post delivery times, but at least the crate is not lost.
Subscription:Loot Crate Mystery Crate one time purchase
Cost: $ 25.00 with free shipping
Notes: The sale is no longer available.
I read comments about the mystery box contents prior to receiving my box. I was a little nervous, but there was plenty of items for the boys to select.
It’s the Voltron shirt from the Rewind themed January 2015 box. T will add it to his collection of t-shirts. The Death by Kitties t-shirt feels softer to me.
Also making an appearance from the January 2015 box is 8-bit sunglasses. J added them to his other pair that I think Subscriptionista sent us. He likes them because they are orange.
T loves anything Marvel including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The lanyard is from the March 2015 Covert themed box. T hated that box and kept only the replica. He gave everything else to J.
Loot Crate Super Fight: The card deck is from the February 2015 Play themed crate. The boys received the box and played with the deck, but weren’t into it.
Hexbug Scarab: J assisted me in opening the box aka he wanted to pick out the good stuff first. The hexbug will join the other hexbug that he received from the February box.
Avengers Age of Ultron Decal: The boys received one from Subscriptionista and have big plans for the second decal. The decal is from the May 2015 Unite theme box.
The inflatable crown is from the April 2015 Fantasy themed box. Do adults enjoy receiving items like the crown? My little guy loves it.
The Game of Thorns USB stick is from the April 2015 Fantasy themed box. I haven’t decided if I should give it to T because it is a dragon or find a Game of Thorns fan. Is it a dragon? It looks like a cross between a wolf and a dragon.
Verdict: We haven’t ordered many Loot Crate boxes this year. I was hoping the majority of the items would be items the boys wanted. That’s the thing with mystery boxes; it can be a hit or a miss. I’ll call it a hit because the boys will use most of the items. T calls it a miss because he was hoping for different items. I do wonder if adults become frustrated with gamer boxes. A lot of it appeals to my children. Does it appeal to adults too?

I wrote a dry review 🙁 I’m in a funk because the doctor earlier this week said the osteoarthritis has moved into my hip. My body hates me.
Your review is fab, I love the orange comment, our oldest son likes orange too. I got this, tshirt on swap, I needed black tshirt for volunteer stage crew. Thank you.
Sorry about your hip, I use biosil and alpha, lipioc acid, vitamin D for my arthritis.
Thank you for commenting! Does it matter what type of arthritis?
No, I am RN of over 30 years, with OA in back and knees, anti-inflammatory supplements work for all types of arthritis. send my best always
I’m sorry to hear about your osteoarthritis – I’ve heard it’s very painful. 🙁
I don’t get gamer boxes – or know anyone outside blogs who does – so not sure if adults like those items too? I will be getting my first (possibly only) gamer box this month b/c I REALLY want the “CW edition” of Fanmail.
Thank you. It has it moments. I’m bouncing back from finding out. I wouldn’t care as much if it wasn’t for my younger son being 7. I want to stay active and be able to do things with him.
Fanmail looks fun! You’ll have to share what is in the box.
The game of thrones usb thingy is a direwolf, which is just a mythical giant wolf. No connection to dragons outside some elaborate fan theories I won’t bore you with here 🙂
