Birchbox October 2015
Birchbox October 2015

Birchbox’s theme this month is Positive Force. Birchbox partnered with Estee Lauder to fund a year of breast cancer research lab hours.

The box is pretty.

Macademia Style Extend Dry Shampoo
Macadamia  Extend Style Extend Dry Shampoo

Macadamia Style Extend Dry Shampoo: The made-in-the-USA dry shampoo is safe for color hair. It’s free of sulfates, parabens, and glutens.  I can’t wait for the dry shampoo trend to end. I will bring this dry shampoo farm up to the farm. I doubt I will ever use it, but if I did it would be at the farmhouse. I need to contact Birchbox and find out if the date on the bottom is when it is made or expired. The date on the bottom is 070215.

It has volcanic ash in it which is what my hair would like if I used this near a flame.

Avene Thermal Spring Water
Avene Thermal Spring Water

Avene Thermal Spring Water: The made in France spring water spray is perfect for my purse next summer. I also find spring water sprays to be useful when I need to dampen my face to apply an oil. It also soothes redness in the face.

I’m stealing Subscriptionista’s line. I wonder if I can drink it?

Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara
Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara

Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara: The made in Italy mascara feels lightweight while building up dark eyelashes according to the website. I did not open it because I am hoping someone can use it.

The packaging colors looks beautiful against the flowers.

N$ Fluoro5 Elixer Restore & Repair Oil
N4 Fluoro5 Elixer Restore & Repair Oil

N4 Fluoro5 Elixer Restore and Repair Oil: The made in the USA hair oil promises to do many things. It will strengthen, restore, and repair your hair. The hair oil will protect your hair from heat damage. The scent is a warm musk.

Why a barcode on an item that is labeled not for resale?

Dr. Jart + BB Bounce Beauty Balm Moist Broad Spectrum SPF 30
Dr. Jart + BB Bounce Beauty Balm Moist Broad Spectrum SPF 30

Dr. Jart+ BB Bounce Beauty Balm: I have no clue to the differences of a BB or CC beauty product or why I need them.  I read the directions and decided the made in Korea balm is too much work. It needs to be reapplied every 2 hours.

Pretty Compact
Pretty Compact

The compact is a great size to tuck into your purse.

It looks adorable!
It looks adorable!

I received the fair to medium skin tone. I did not swatch it because I am hoping to find the beauty balm a better home.

I’m impressed by the complex design.

Verdict: My journey with Birchbox is nearing its end. I received Birchbox for 17 months and am ready to move on. Overall, it is a great box when looking from the point of view of sample size and quality. Personally for me, I may use 2-3 of the products.

I LOVE your box! I know I said I was done with BB but a good code this holiday would tempt me back lol

It is a great box this month!

Your box is better than mine was. I got the grossest cucumber sheet mask that was literally DRIPPING off of my face when I put it on. I got the water too and just don’t understand it. Too upscale for me.

Use the water to cool yourself after working in the garden. I do! LOL on the mask,

The flowers look gorgeous! Especially the ones with the mascara & N4 oil… just beautiful. Your box was 5 completely different products than mine and I like yours better. Love your review!

I just canceled Birchbox b/c of a bad customer experience. 🙁

(Read on angry villagers if you dare! Get your pitchforks ready.)
I tried to pick the Power Pose box for my Oct sample choice but, for the 2nd month in a row, a BB glitch made it not possible for me to make a choice on my iPhone. Since I couldn’t get to a computer anytime soon, I emailed Birchbox – when they responded a few hours later, they said neither of the Estee Lauder curated boxes were available anymore. I wasn’t thrilled but figured if they’re out, they’re out. Then I got a box that I didn’t like much… okay, that happens. THEN I saw a promotion for the Power Pose box for new subscribers. Really?! I thought they were out… since they weren’t, I emailed them to say I should have gotten that box if they have them in stock – it was their glitch that wouldn’t let me choose it for my sample choice in the first place and I thought they should make it right. They chose not to, so I canceled. Don’t give me that BS about needing to hold back a certain # of boxes for new subscribers – if they’re more important than your loyal, existing customers, then I don’t want to be a customer at all.

Thank you for the flower compliment. What did you receive in your box?

I think BB customer service has gone downhill. My sub should had ended in September except they kept added on months because of issues. They should have sent you the Power Pose box.

I got Amika dry shampoo (bleh – more dry shampoo), Embryolisse Lait-creme concentrate (I already have a sample that I haven’t tried yet but can’t remember from where?), Eyeko mascara, ModelCo lipstick – Kitty (great name! but it’s a pale pink that I don’t need) and Skyn Iceland Firming eye gels – this was the best part of the box.

Hello, If you are looking for a better home for the BB Beauty Balm I would love to offer mine. I have been dying to try that product – but didn’t want to cough up the cash in case I didn’t like it. Would you be open to swapping for it? I have heard a lot about your succulent feet and could probably make the swap worthwhile for you 🙂

Lol! I sort of wonder if we should all get deer clothing and start a deer gang. We will be known for hanging out in meadows and becoming super still when anyone approaches. Tender leaves will fear us and goats will want to be us…

Totally different from my box, which is my last box. Sad because I am allergic to every single thing I got. Dear Clark Thickening Balm, They’re real benefit mascara, Origins Modern Friction (exfoliant), Dinoplatz Highlighter, and a mask, but the BioRepublic Green Tea Detox Purifying Sheet mask.

I think my boxes used to be better for things I can use, but lately it is loaded with products I can’t use. So I am off to try Petit Vour, Goodebox, and Vegan Cuts Beauty…..

    • October 20, 2015 at 8:56 pm

That’s a sad way to end a sub. I may go and try Petit Vour again when Birchbox comes to an end. I think November is my last month. They tacked on a couple months for shipping issues.

Well if they have a really outstanding Black Friday Deal I may be back. Going to take the last of my points and get the serum box, can only use half of it but I really like Caudalie (no phenoxyethanol in any of their products and that serum is my favorite – so far – of their serums. They have good point system and rewards so if I can get a good deal…..
