Birchbox Subscription Curated Box Review (Rifle Paper Co.) – April 2016

Subscription: Birchbox

Cost:

Monthly $10.00

Yearly: $110.00

What To Expect:

At least 5 items allegedly based on a profile.

Sit Down and Get Comfortable:

This is my third Birchbox year subscription. Each year subscription was within months apart from each other. I got suckered in by the 30% everything code during Black Friday week!

This curated box is themed “Effortlessly Elegant”! I would like to re-name it “Effortlessly Lazy”!

Effortlessly lazy in a good way…

Here is the pretty box designed by Rifle Paper Co.

Following Onderria’s lead I am apparently “Fun-Loving”…

Birchbox Effortlessly Elegant First Peek

Birchbox is having that spongy backing now as a permanent thing it is kinda nifty! There is a 20% personalized code for Rifle Paper that expires December 31, 2016! That was very smart of them! I have wanted to take (well I just thought of this I need to do it) a picture of any codes I get in boxes in case I want to use them because I lose them.

New Motto: Use them before you lose them!

Description of contents up close and personal for your viewing pleasure…

Marcelle 3-in-1 Micellar Solution

Marcelle 3-in-1 Micellar Solution: a 3-in-1 that sweeps away makeup, cleanses skin, and soothes irritation. I could not really detect a scent and it felt like I just used a face wipe after everything was all said and done. All fancy with the Birchbox Exclusive removable plastic labeling!

Like a face wipe but the lube is provided and you provide the wipe.

PARLOR® by Jeff Chastain Volumizing Lifting Spray

PARLOR® by Jeff Chastain Volumizing Lifting Spray: I previously received a sample from Birchbox of PARLOR® by Jeff Chasten Smoothing Blowout Spray. I am putting these two sprays along with some other goodies in a pouch for a friend who got a new job.

I spread the karmanic love of subscription box goodies.

TOCCA Crema da Mano – Hand Cream in Giulietta

TOCCA Crema da Mano – Hand Cream in Giulietta: I am loving hand creams lately. This is fancy all “Crema” like. The scent is of pink tulip and green apple. I think I can detect the green apple scent. I mean its not red apple. It has the tartness of a green apple. Now I am not sure about my pink tulips from my purple tulips. Don’t get me started on yellow versus red tulips scents. And let’s not forget what parrot tulips must smell like! I digress, the green apple dominates over what I am sure is a pink tulip scent. My hands were scented and succulent.

Parrot tulips are underrated.

Dr. Jart+ Liftra™ Contour Cream

Dr. Jart+ Liftra™ Contour Cream: I like Dr. Jart and this Contour Cream feels like a thick gel. I applied this after I used the Marcelle-in-1 Micellar Solution and it sunk in nicely. It felt thick and would be great for applying after a cold day outing. I did not notice any immediate fancy miracle work it claims but let us face it, usually that requires the temporary magic of [sili]cones.

I do like my cones to achieve a more youthful appearance.

Laura Geller New York Baked Blush-n-Brighten in Pink Grapefruit

Laura Geller New York Baked Blush-n-Brighten in Pink Grapefruit: We are gathered here today, to pay our respects to Pnut’s broken blush. May Birchbox customer service make her feel whole again, either in sorry points or sending a new blush her way.

So pretty, so new, so full of blushing cheek possibilities, and also encouraging eating more grapefruit. Sad face.

Here are swatches of the Laura Geller blush, the Tocca hand cream and the Dr. Jart contour cream:

Birchbox April 2016 Curated “Effortlessly Elegant” Box

Verdict:

The Birchbox “Effortlessly Elegant” box rocks. Although I think it would be better named the “Effortlessly Lazy” box but I am pretty sure that would not market well. You have the micellar water because towels scare you, you have the volumizing spray  because you just pressed snooze too many times and needed some volume on your flat hair, you slap on the contouring creme as a last ditch effort with the hope that the cream delivers its promises, and slather hand cream because you have not manicured your hands and your cuticles are not succulent. Oh and the blush has given up on you and you need to contact customer service.

Seriously, it sounds sarcastic but I do like this box! I just have a weird way of selling it (not that it can be sold I think its sold out).

Pnut, here to sell whatever is already sold out in a way that gives Marketing heart attacks.
