Saturday Trash Talk

It’s that time again. Let’s get trashed!

As you very well know, we love our opinions here at Subscriptionista.com BUT we are equal opportunity opinionators (no that is not a word) and we would love to hear your thoughts on your trash. So send me your photos and opinions to be featured. mailboxjunkie808@gmail dot com

trashArcona Cranberry Gommage

I first tried this product in DermStore’s old subscription box that allowed you to pick your samples. I found an old review of it here. I personally used to love this stuff when I worked nights at the hospital because it felt like you could scrub every dirt and wrinkle out. But now after discovering cleansing oils, I feel like it is just to abrasive.

It feels similar to rubbing rocks on your face….

Honest Bubble Bath

I have a toddler and we go through bubble bath like nobody’s business. This stuff is a good price and passes my ingredients test (you would be surprised at how many things labeled for kids have scary stuff in there)

Outlaw Soaps

This was a present from Subscriptionista. It smelled heavenly and we loved it! We are kind of soap snobs around here.

Bon Jovi’s ‘Blaze of Glory’ may have been running through my head as I soaped up with this Outlaw soap…………”I play for keeps cuz I might not make it back.”……

Cabinet Clean Out:

Benetint

Love this stuff but it is old and doesn’t pass my current ingredient test. So long charlie!

Sephora reports this item,  “gives an innocent yet provocative glow to keep everyone guessing.”. Oo la la

Belle’s Healing Lip Balm

I got this in an old school sub box called Eco Emi. It was $15 a month and they sent out all natural beauty stuff. I think they went through several evolutions but are currently a dead box. This stuff worked well but I have no idea how old it is.

Noyah lip stuff

Another lippy bites the dust. This color was a orangey for me.

Bare Minerals Lipstick

Another 2-3 year old product just hanging out in my cabinet………. This formula is great and moisturizing. But after subbing to boxes for so long I don’t think I ever need to buy a full priced lippy every again.

Oribe Superfine Hairspray

This was from PSMH box. I want to say 2 years ago! It smells so good. I love their stuff but refuse to pay full price for it. Do you remember Nina Garcia’s hair box? I was so hoping that she would have included a Shampoo and Conditioner from them!

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray

Meh. This was a gift. Salt Sprays are all the same to me.

Ok onto Heat’s Trash:

Patchology Exfoliate FlashMasque Sheet Mask (BeautyFix August 2015) – I liked it!

Sephora Sheet Mask Pomegranate  – This was the last of a set of 5-6 sheet masks that I ordered on sale last sumer and I really liked it! Would try this one again

Juice Beauty® GREEN APPLE Peel Sensitive (Ipsy, I think – summer/fall 2015?) – I used this twice but the first time was shortly after I got it and I can’t remember what I thought of it. But then I used it last week and I assumed it went bad or expired because it’s liquidy and smells a little weird (not yummy like other juice beauty products) so I’m throwing it out with several uses left. But after reading reviews to get the link for you, other reviews mention it being a liquid so… maybe that’s just how it is? (Sorry my link is to Birchbox because  I can’t get on the Ipsy website right now.)

Benton Snail Bee High Content Steam Cream (3B Beauty Box – Feb 2016) – I liked this cream and would like a bigger sample to see if I notice anything long-term

Living Proof Prime Style Extender Spray (Play! by Sephora – Jan 2016) – I don’t think this little bottle was filled very high because it didn’t last as long as similar size samples. As much as I love this brand’s Perfect Hair Day cream, I don’t think this spray made much difference in my hair?

Pumpkin Ginger Glow Sugar Scrubby Brown Butter Beauty (Herbal Bliss – Nov 2015) – This was one of my first forays into body scrubs and these seemed pretty good but I realized that I don’t love Ginger-Pumpkin scent all that much. It’s not bad but it’s not my preference

J by Jennifer Aniston Fragrance Mist (Winter WalMart Box?) – I’m picky about scents so no offense to anyone who likes this stuff but I thought it was horrible! Smelled like something an old lady would wear… it was just gross on me

Dr. Brandt Needles No More Instant Wrinkle Relaxing Cream (Beautyfix – May 2015) – I was SO excited to get this sample and then so glad I hadn’t bought full size before I did because I didn’t notice any reduction in wrinkles… no when I tried in May of last year and then not when I tried it again this month. I decided to try it again and finish the sample because I got another sample in my Play! by Sephora. Wanted to double check that it really didn’t do anything for me before giving away my new sample.  🙁

Dr. Brandt Skincare PoreDermabrasion Pore Perfecting Exfoliator (Play! by Sephora – Dec 2015) – This Dr. Brandt was a little better for me than the one above but still not amazing especially for the price. I think other, cheaper exfoliators are just as good or better for me.

Dr. Brandt XYY Dual Fusion Water – 3rd & final empty Dr. Brandt product this week and it’s great! I just adore micellar waters and this one is really good – I don’t know if it’s completely worth full price but I think it does seem to work a little better than the cheaper Simple Micellar water so you can use less and it lasts a little longer. (BTW, I honestly had no idea that I was using three dr. brandt products… I’m not super observant – just ask my husband since it drives him crazy. And I could have sworn I got this full-size product in a Beauty Box – maybe BeautyFix?? but I just can’t figure it out! Anyone know?)

Sudsy & Co. Woodland Mint Artisan Soap – This was from my first Sudsy & Co. order (back when they had a sub box but I wanted to choose my own scents!) – I was used liquid body washes for 20+ years (Dove, Caress, Olay, etc.) and then I tried Sudsy Soaps… and now I’m only using natural bar soaps without a bunch of yucky additives on my skin. I love the light mint scent of this one but I love the minty Morning Mist scent too!

That’s all folks!

Fun! Isn’t that Honest Bubble Bath great – I love it for my toddlers too and go through the bottles so fast.

We are serious bubble lovers in this house. I tried to get on the Honest Company Bundle monthly package that you can do but their shipping to Hawaii is crazy expensive.

      • April 3, 2016 at 8:55 am

I was told that shipping is free if you have two bundles ‘active’ ( diaper and essential). I was going to cancel my diaper bundle but didn’t when I was told that this was the case- talk of useful accidental discoveries! Have you you tried doing that? I never get mine monthly but shift the dates depending on my needs. Also if your total is above 50 it ships free. Is that not true for Hawaii?

(clicks faster than the speed of light to double check that she may have missed a loop hole on free shipping……..)
Nope, They charge 29.95 for shipping on the essentials bundles to Hawaii……booooooooo

Heat-I have never understood the celebrity foray into making perfumes but apparently it is very lucrative. I will keep J by Jenn in mind for when I hit 40 and want to smell like an old lady……. 🙂

    • April 2, 2016 at 3:29 pm

MB I’ve got several old lady-ish perfumes for ya in many years then! However, I am going to have to charge $372 for ground shipping to send perfume to Hawaii. Sorry.

      • April 2, 2016 at 3:38 pm

$372 seems about average for perfume these days…… The real budget breaker is taco seasonings…

@Mailbox Junkie: Arcona packages amazes me. Maybe its the font. We are a bubble bath household here as well! Do you like surf/volumizing sprays?

@Heat: I love your picture of your empties very nicely done! I get to Play now in Sephora but I told Subista I want you to keep doing your reviews! Very jelly you get the March box it looks like the best box yet from Sephora. We are also one month away from the Sun Kit!!!!

    • April 2, 2016 at 3:41 pm

Sometimes. It depends on the formula. I have one from my first prospurly box that I like that is based with salt and argan oil so it is not over drying. I don’t brush my hair so it has its own volume thing going on. But yes the Arcona packaging is on point

      • April 2, 2016 at 5:42 pm

*adds volumizing sprays to box* The $373 charged is waived since you added a human baby (human and/or fur) recently to your abode. I will look into this taco seasoning craving you have…

I don’t brush my hair due to curls but I wish I had the natural volume you have! But alas, my hair is in a permanent ponytail for the most part.

I’m slacking on my March Play! review but should be able to do it and send to Subista tomorrow. So glad you made it into the exclusive club! You are welcome to take over the reviews starting April. Or I can send the review to you and you can add in your thoughts?

      • April 2, 2016 at 5:45 pm

Nononono Sephora Play is all yours. I will add my Pnut commentary in the comments section always for you my dear Heat!

I look forward to your March review what a fabulous box *has box envy*
