When you sign up there are eight different options to choose from, but the Cookbooks and Military History boxes are quarterly. I get YA, though I think Strange Worlds, Thrill Seekers, and Blind Date all sound good!

I always like the little bookmark inclusion. It’s both informative and useful!
Lies I Told by Michelle Zink
What if, after spending a lifetime deceiving everyone around you, you discovered the biggest lies were the ones you’ve told yourself?
Grace Fontaine has everything: beauty, money, confidence, and the perfect family.
But it’s all a lie.
Grace has been adopted into a family of thieves who con affluent people out of money, jewelry, art, and anything else of value. Grace has never had any difficulty pulling off a job, but when things start to go wrong on the Fontaines’ biggest heist yet, Grace finds herself breaking more and more of the rules designed to keep her from getting caught…including the most important one of all: never fall for your mark.
This sounds somewhat interesting. I hadn’t heard of it yet, but it came out in 2015 and had a sequel out the same year. Plus, School Library Journal and the American Library Association both have their endorsements on it, so I suppose I best read it 😉
Not if I See You First by Eric Lindstrom
- Don’t deceive me. Ever. Especially using my blindness. Especially in public.
- Don’t help me unless I ask. Otherwise you’re just getting in my way or bothering me.
- Don’t be weird. Seriously, other than having my eyes closed all the time, I’m just like you only smarter.
Parker Grant doesn’t need 20/20 vision to see right through you. That’s why she created the Rules: Don’t treat her any differently just because she’s blind, and never take advantage. There will be no second chances. Just ask Scott Kilpatrick, the boy who broke her heart.
When Scott suddenly reappears in her life after being gone for years, Parker knows there’s only one way to react—shun him so hard it hurts. She has enough on her mind already, like trying out for the track team (that’s right, her eyes don’t work but her legs still do), doling out tough-love advice to her painfully naive classmates, and giving herself gold stars for every day she hasn’t cried since her dad’s death three months ago. But avoiding her past quickly proves impossible, and the more Parker learns about what really happened—both with Scott, and her dad—the more she starts to question if things are always as they seem. Maybe, just maybe, some Rules are meant to be broken.
This came in an Uppercase box a couple of years ago [click to see my review], and I really enjoyed it! I gave it five stars. Actually, when I was back home visiting my parents a couple weeks ago, I noticed my mom had my first copy on her table. I’ll either donate this or take it to work.
Verdict: This box is good for discovering some new-to-you books, or the occasional one you’ve already read. The theme this month seems to be realistic-ish romance-ish. I’ve put the Lies book on my TBR shelf, and jeez that shelf has sooo many books on it!!! I definitely need to put down Bubble Witch Saga 3 and read more…
What do you think? Have you read either book? Let us know!
Disclosure: I was sent this box in exchange for my honest review, there are no referral links.
