French Box – Another Update March 2015

I received an interesting piece of mail -at least to me- from my Bank regarding French Box and my dispute. Good news is that they are going to refund me the $200 something that I originally paid to French Box for the annual subscription I signed up for.

When French Box sent out a message to annual subscribers they made it clear that they would deduct the cost of February. I though that was tacky. The replacement items were not enough to make the box salvageable and worse the service and out right deception made me decide not to continue my subscription.

I alerted French Box that I was unhappy with their terms and would like a refund. They wrote back quickly telling me it would take three weeks to get a refund. This made me anxious and honestly I don’t trust them at all. I decided to dispute the charges because of those facts and my belief that French Box will not recover from this.

It took about a week or less for me to get a refund for the full amount I paid which I believe is fair. Moreover I would be more than happy to send back all February items. Do you all think that is the right thing to do or should I just junk it all?

The bad news is that French Box can argue with my bank and make this process bothersome. I doubt they will. They should know they did wrong…

If you find yourself in a position like this do not hesitate to dispute the charges. It is a better option to waiting for a refund that may never come.

Also weirdly not a lot of action on the French Box Facebook page. You think they would try to curry some favor with their remaining subscribers…

I’m being biased because I am unhappy with subscription boxes. I vote to trash the items unless the credit card company requires you to send them back. You can hold the items to see if French Box disputes the charges and then trash them afterwards. Why incur additional cost?

I don’t think you need to send back the February items. Three are junky and two are expired. The replacements are expired as well.

I don’t think French Box will bother arguing with your bank, it will just cost them more money. Indeed, if they were smart they’d give everyone who asks for a refund a refund – as having charge backs will cost them more and hurt their ability to keep credit cards.

Thanks for the info!!! I’m just going to toss it. I had no idea that charge backs cost them!
