Popsugar Must Have Review – September 2015

Disclosure: There are referral links in this post.

I love Popsugar because of the value even though some of the prices are overinflated I find that out of all the sub boxes, I use Popsugar the most. Popsugar is $39.95 a month and sometimes there are codes floating around. But lately, it has been more $5 codes and less of the $10 codes. Let us know if you find any codes more than $5 because I might snap another box up!

September’s theme is “Travel, Refresh, Fashion Fix, Beauty Recovery, To-Go Snacks. XOXO.”

Let’s get it ON!

My box, although beaten up, keeps telling me to SURPRISE, LOVE, ENJOY!

I keep thinking this month the box is telling me to love my tiny but ever ageing wrinkles because I am a mortal.

Travel Trio: This retails for $42 and the Hudson + Bleecker brand is well known for travel. I saw spoilers of this but no one accentuated the side tags. I mean look at the mature underwire bra! My t-shirt bras look sexier than that picture! And the stiletto pump because you need to match up your stilettos with a mature underwire bra that is sexier than a t-shirt bra. I digress, it does make sense to have the mature underwire bra so you can have your partner find the bag if you ask for it. “Honey the one with the BRA not the STILETTO!” I could have used this before my trip this past weekend but until next time.

I am not sure about whether the clear bag is as TSA friendly as Popsugar suggest. Just stick a quart ziplock in the bag just to be safe for an insta-transfer. Or you can be like me and stuff everything into a quart ziplock bag then put that in the TSA friendly bag. I put the picture of the snacks in the bag for some kind of size reference.

“The one with the high heel honey … Yes I know that my sneakers are in there but can you get the bag and give it to me.”

Nourish Snacks – Almond to Cherries: Retails for $2. I have heard of Nourish as a sub box subscription. So as soon as I took the snack bag out of the bag, I started snacking as I perused the box like I had no cares in the world. The almonds tasted like almonds. The dried cherries tasted like dried cherries, more sweet, a little tart, but my tastebuds must have been deficient as I did not pick up the mentioned sour flavor. I know some peeps do not like snacks because it is a filler or allergen but for me, fill me up with a snack in a box and I am a happy camper *munches*

Kris Nations – Earrings: So very cute packaging! This retails for $35. I have heard of Kris Nations via sub boxes. My ear holes have issues. This will be gifted to either a young girl with pierced ears or a lady with a second ear piercing because they are delicately petite. Likely a young girl with piercings that does not have a sibling that will swallow the so very cute packaging.

Not a Nom.

Too Faced – Brow Envy Pallet: This retails for $39 and I have bought Too Faced products and I am pleased to see the brand in sub boxes saves me some money! This palette alone pays for the box and everything else is gravy (sub box lingo)! I like this palette for traveling and I did not realize that the brow shaper thinges are attached to a paper thinge that attaches it to the mirror thinge. For traveling, I would use this over my Anatasia brow kit because Anatasia’s kit has awesome but not compact packaging. I want to note that the Anatasia brow kit does not come with brow wax nor a highlighter that the Too Face does.

I am motivated to upkeep my eyebrows prepped and pretty continuously for two weeks versus when I really need to pluck.

unnamed (98)

Briogeo Rosarco – Milk: This retails for $20 and is full size *does happy dance* I have heard Briogeo Rosarco via Birchbox and although I did not like their deep conditioner, I love this! It smells wonderful I am not sure whether I pick up the mentioned argan or rose hip but I definitely smell the coconut oil base. I have not found a great natural children’s conditioner in the market so I have been using leave-in conditioner sprays from sub boxes but this one is the largest so it makes me extra happy. I try to be crunchy when I can but will relent when they are older and want the “de jour” shampoo/conditioner of their day (mine was Salon Selectives followed by Pantene Pro V). What can I say? I am trying to get my hair sulfate free but I am losing the battle I lived with sulfate my whole life my hair and scalp love that squeaky feeling and sulfate free does not squeak …

What happened to Natural Essences Brand with the actress that was so excited to shampoo? She must have been faking it…

unnamed (99)

NCLA – Cuticle Oil: This retails for $18 and I have heard of NCLA from magazines I think? I love cuticle oils and should apply them as much as I applied lip gloss in high school. I probably nip my cuticles the wrong way but I prefer them nipped and not pushed back. So this cuticle oil smells like apricot I think.

I will use it until it gets misplaced.

Fillers

20% off + Free Shipping at Too Faced

20% off Kris Nations

Two $10 off Popsugar regular boxes to give to friends who would be new subscribers.

Verdict: I like value in boxes but not enough to add it all up but I find this box excellent and I am very happy with purchasing it once I discovered the spoiler!

A Pnut review! Are you an official full-time blogger or more of an occasional guest blogger? Wonderful job! 🙂

I haven’t tried PopSugar yet, but always read the reviews – if I could still get this box, I would probably sign up just for the Too Faced brow product… the rest is “gravy” as you bloggers say! I’ve never used cuticle oil, so clearly I need some!! LOL

Subscriptionista is officially a trifecta!!! They needed someone to officially take charge of the Peanut Gallery 😉

Cuticle oil is my new lip balm. Reapply often, have many, misplace all.

Thank you for your kind words on my first debut post 😀

Have you ladies seen the Zoe hero item? It is from Alexis Bittar and I LOVE anything from Alexis Bittar. I am so excited and look forward to giving you all a full report once I get it!

Yes and I’m so disappointed! I too LOVE Bittar and have an embarrassing amount of his stuff, including lucite and metal pieces, but this ring just does not look like “him” to me. I’m passing on the box, but I’m looking forward to your review!

I get what you are saying I am just exited to have something from him. Jelly of you in that you have pieces from him! Even though my largest finger size is 5 I am still excited since its adjustable. I have a pair of earrings that I made in a bead store that replicated his originals at half the cost. Maybe I will show off my ear holes in a future post…

On the topic of sulfate-free shampoo: I too could never find one that got my hair clean enough to suit me, BUT I’ve been using the L’Oreal EverStrong shampoo and conditioner lately (the ones in the green tubes), and they seems to be working for me. They are sulfate-free, but I feel like they get my hair clean. Not clarifying shampoo level clean or anything, but clean. Of course, I wash my hair every day (yes, I know, but it’s short and fine and simultaneously greases up and frizzes overnight, so it’s getting a daily wash, breakage be darned), so I have no idea how well it works on more substantial build-up. Also, it is rosemary-scented, which I love, so maybe I am just deluding myself that I have clean hair so that I can continue to smell like an herb garden.

      Ugh. They seem, not seems.

I love your suggestion Sarah thank you for sharing! I will have to check that out thank you for understanding my squeaky hair needs.

I totally understand the need for squeak.

I’ve been using one of the sulfate free L’Oreal shampoos too – EverPure, I think. (For color treated hair.) I don’t have a need for squeeky clean but the sulfate-free shampoos with no lather at all just seem weird and I end up using more… this one has a little tiny bit of a lather so I like it – don’t love it, but it’s good.

      • September 23, 2015 at 11:41 am

Ok EverPure might be even better I box color my hair but do not really focus on color treated products. I should but my hair color is dark brown and I really do not see a difference but I know when I went medium brown then hair color changes color.
I totally use too much sulfate free shampoo on my hair and I am a latherer in general. If you remember I commented to Sub Bella about Klorane Mango Shampoo sample from BB that I was going to buy full size because I thought it was sulfate free and I was like this rocks then I realized it had sulfates and that is why I liked it so much.
        You ladies rock!
